END OF M67, MAIN A57, BROOKFIELD, GLOSSOP, DERBYSHIRE, SK13 6JF 2020 CHARITY REPORT & CHARITY DETAILS FOR 2021

CENTRE CHARITY 2020/21 The Centre charity for 2020 was the Oakwood Dog Rescue. It is a small non- profit making organisation which is now a Registered Charity.

At Oakwood they are passionate about saving the lives of local dogs. Their dogs come from a variety of backgrounds cruelty, neglect or unwanted pets. With dedication, training and hard work many of these dogs are rehabilitated into loving forever homes where they can feel loved, happy and safe.

There is so much work to be done by the small dedicated team and funds are always tight so any contribution so that even the smallest donation helps us look after our dogs.

The centre is open 15 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide training, assistance and help even when the dogs have been rehomed to prevent them being returned to rescue.

Because of the rallying restrictions imposed upon us the Covid19 Pandemic not a lot of money was raised for the charity, therefore the Committee decided that the Oakwood Dog Rescue charity would run for another year.

The charity for 2021 is the Oakwood Dog Rescue.

AMENDMENT OF RULES 12.1 The approval of the Executive Committee is required to amend these Rules. page 18 www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk RALLY RULES AND INFORMATION PREFACE UPDATED 27th SEPTEMBER 2020

Rally Rules have evolved from experience gained at past rallies and are designed first to protect, so far as possible the safety of Members, their families and property when attending rallies and second to maintain acceptable standards on the Rally Field. The Rally Rules are supplementary to the Caravan Club Rules and East Yorkshire Centre Rules.

ORGANISATION AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. The authority for the conduct of the Rally shall be vested, for the time being, in the Rally Marshal, who shall be an East Yorkshire Centre Full, Joint or Family Member or a Member of the Youth Group Committee or his appointed deputy for the time being, who, in the event of a member breaking these rules shall be authorised to request such member to remove his caravan from the site. The Rally Marshal shall report the matter immediately to the Centre Committee for such action as shall be deemed necessary. 2. The attendance at the site and/or payment of rally fees shall be an acceptance by the member of these rules. 3. The Centre Committee reserves the right to refuse the use of the rally site to any member, or to request any member to remove his caravan without being obliged to give a reason. 4. The receipt by the Rally Marshal of the booking slip and booking fee at least ten days prior to the rally shall be a prerequisite to the supply of rally plaques and newspapers to the member. No member shall be entitled to a rally plaque unless he attends the rally for at least one night with his caravan. Slips will not normally be acknowledged. On Weekend Rallies the Rally Marshal will, if possible, obtain the newspaper of your choice on Saturday and Sunday. Newspapers to be paid for on arrival at the rally. 5. There is no responsibility by the Club, Centre or Rally Marshal for accidents, damage or loss however caused. 6. Other than in exceptional circumstances any site or part of a site on which a Rally is held shall be for the exclusive use of the Caravan Club.

FINANCE 7. The Booking Fee for a Rally is to be enclosed with the Rally Booking Slip, and except when the Rally is cancelled, is not returnable. Unless previously paid, all other fees shall be paid on arrival at the site. 8. Any member who having booked a Rally, fails to attend the Rally without giving advance notice of non-attendance to the Rally Marshal, or in the event of not being able to contact the Rally Marshal, one of the Centre Officers, Vice-Chairman or Rally Secretary, will be liable to pay the balance of any Rally fee due, together with the cost of any newspapers or social tickets as ordered on the booking slip. The Centre Treasurer will advise members of any amounts due under this rule on receipt of the relevant Rally return, and payment should be forwarded within 7 days.

SAFETY 9. The speed limit on the site is WALKING PACE (i.e. 5 m.p.h.). Only fully licensed drivers are allowed to drive vehicles on the site and in no circumstances are driving lessons permitted. 10. In view of the possible danger to caravans and cars the flying of kites or model aircraft, the playing of ball games (other than in the designated area), the use of guns, air pistols, catapults and other dangerous toys and the riding of bicycles on the site is strictly prohibited. Drones are banned from the rally field and any Centre event unless you have prior agreement from Head Office. This rule reflects the Club's rules for the use of drones on all Club sites, which are also banned without prior agreement from Head Office. Any unauthorised use of drones by members on the rally field or Club sites will face disciplinary action. 11. Open fires are not allowed on the rally field unless permitted by the Rally Marshal. Approval for the use of barbecues, gas lights and gas heaters also rests with the Rally Marshal. Users should not cause inconvenience to other members and must exercise caution to avoid creating a fire hazard. It is recommended that a bucket of water is placed within the vicinity of each barbecue whilst in use. Heaters in Marquees. The Club strongly advises that Centres do not put a gas patio heater under a gazebo or canvas as they emit high levels of heat, which will naturally rise, and can present a fire hazard. Usually the tent/marquee fabric is fire resistant, however sustained exposure to heat in close proximity is not advisable. These burners, typically propane, also produce carbon monoxide and dioxide and require a lot of ventilation. 12. Always carry levelling blocks, a fire extinguisher minimum 1kg Dry Powder or equivalent, an approved fire blanket, a first-aid kit and sufficient water for immediate needs. 13. When the rally field is too wet a hazard flag will be flown. To avoid unnecessary damage to the field, members should not remove their cars or caravans without the permission of the Rally Marshal when the flag is flying. 14. No competitions involving the use of motor vehicles in motion on the site will be permitted. www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk page 19 HYGIENE 15. Members must provide their own toilet and must empty the contents into the pit, or disposal point provided. It must not be charged or rinsed directly from a drinking water tap. Waste water must be collected into a receptacle which does not leak or overflow, normally disposal will be along a hedgerow. The use of filters or similar contrivances is precluded. 16. Dogs must be kept under control and on a lead no more than 2 metres long, and if the dog is tethered it must be within the boundaries of your rally pitch. Animals must be exercised away from vans and any fouling cleaned up promptly. If an animal is left in an outfit, it must have adequate ventilation and water because of the speed by which temperature can rise in an outfit. After due warning any person in breach of this rule may be asked by the Rally Marshal to leave the site. 17. The Elsan Pit must only be used for toilet disposal, not for waste water or rubbish. Please take all refuse home, leaving no litter, including tea bags on or about the site.

GENERAL CONDUCT 18. Each caravan must be placed on the pitch indicated, with the right-hand corner (front) over the marker. The towing vehicle should, where possible, be parked on the right-hand side of the caravan. 19. At some rallies the reservation of pitches will not be permitted. Otherwise the reservation of pitches is limited to one pitch except in the case of the Rally Marshal requiring convenient pitches for assistants. 20. At the expiration of the period of the Rally all caravans must be removed from the site unless prior arrangements have been made by the Rally Marshal with the owner. 21. Where a full awning is not erected, a free standing Pup/Dome tent may be erected, in situ and in the space otherwise provided for a full awning on the nearside of the caravan. The tent must only be used as additional sleeping accommodation and must not exceed 6ft by 8ft. The tent must be surrounded by a wind break for protection of the occupants, which must also have reflective tape attached to it on its outer extremity and/or peg lines. No fire and/or gas appliances will be allowed in the tent under any circumstances. The tent to contain no more than two occupants. All occupants must be dependents or in the care of members of The Caravan Club. 22. Excessive noise should not spoil the pleasant atmosphere at rallies, and you are asked to avoid all unnecessary noise especially after children have gone to bed, and certainly after 11.30p.m. Official or private parties should under no circumstances cause annoyance to people not attending them. 23. Generators may only be used for a maximum period of two hours in any one day between the hours of 10am-12 noon and 4-6pm. They must not be left unattended and are to be placed on the nearside of the member's outfit. However, this restriction will not apply to the use of generators by the Rally Marshals as may be required for activities or amenities provided as part of the rally. Nor will it apply to members who need to run their generator due to a medical condition, should no other means of power be available and with the prior approval of the Rally Marshals. 24. Sleeping in motor vehicles, other than motor caravans, is not allowed at rallies. 25. Members must ensure that their children do not trespass or damage the site owner's or adjoining owner's property. Parental control must be exercised over children at social events. 26. Should it be necessary to use Land Rovers etc. for the movement of cars and caravans, the Club, Centre, Rally Marshal, owner or driver will not accept any responsibility for any damage which may occur. A donation towards the cost of fuel will be appreciated. 27. The use of a rally site is a privilege and it is the members responsibility to ensure that the privilege is not abused. 28. With the exception of Overseas Holiday Rallies which may be booked when they are advertised, booking of all other Rallies can be made from the 1st December each year. Details of these will be published on the Centre Website during the preceeding December. For those members without access to the Centre Website, a list of rallies together with the name of the lead marshal, will be available from the Rally Secretary from 1st December upon request. 29. The foregoing are supplementary to the obligation which all members undertake on joining the Caravan Club and which includes the observation of the Caravan Code and Country Code.

page 24 www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk TREASURER'S MESSAGE

Hello my fellow Ralliers, This has been a very different year for most of us on the rally front. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all rally marshals for their continued hard work and diligence in dealing with the financial aspects of running rallies. My work this year, although at times difficult for other reasons (Covid-19!) has been straightforward and uneventful from the rally aspects. I would also like to gently remind all marshals to continue to update me whenever they make payments into the Centre bank account. Many thanks and I look forward to a new year when hopefully we will all be able to get out rallying as it was meant to be. David Woolley

EARLY ARRIVALS Please remember that the Rally Marshals need to have time to set up their own outfit, and prepare the rally before you arrive - please adhere to the published rally opening times.

THE BROCHURE SECRETARY

I would like to thank everyone who has assisted with this year's brochure expecially Kath for keeping me supplied with coffee. You the rally marshals for all your efforts in getting back to me your information early. The proof readers this year are Tim and June Norris and John and Sue Holroyd. I hope there are only a few mistakes and I am sure you will point them out to me over the next 12 months. Rally Marshals can help by giving their information to the Rally Secretary as soon as possible for the following year. Remember what you as rally marshals put on the form is what goes in the brochure and also now goes onto the Caravan and Motorhome Club website and into the supplement printed with the February edition of the Club Magazine. See you on the rally field. KATH YOUNG Secretary Renewal of Your Centre Registration With so many of us paying by Direct Debit it is easy to forget that your Centre Registration has to be renewed each year at the same time as your Club Membership. Your new membership cards are sent out in the first half of the month in which your Caravan and Motorhome Club subscription is due i.e. If 30th June is your renewal date your cards will arrive around the 10th June. If you pay your annual subscription by continuous credit card and the expiry date of your Club Membership has passed you will be unable to re-register to the Centre of your choice on the website. If you pay your annual subscription by Direct Debit you will be unable to re-register to the Centre of your choice once you are within 10 days of your Club Membership expiry date. Therefore to re-register to a Centre outside of the above dates, please call the Contact Centre on tel 01342 318 813 Monday to Friday between 0845 and 1730. If you are registering to a Centre for the first time, this can be processed on the website in the normal way. You will perhaps be amazed that with around 1000 members registered with the Centre, how many fail to renew their Centre Registration within the time allowed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The onus is on you, the members, to renew your Centre Registration which is totally separate from renewing your Caravan and Motorhome Club Membership. Renew it or lose it Kath Young, Membership Secretary page 28 www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk SOCIAL CALENDAR 2021 Dear Ralliers, Last year was one all of us will remember, spending most of it on Lock Down. Joan Baxter, Social Secretary www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk page 29 HAVE YOU BEEN ON A RALLY YET? IF NOT, THEN READ ON AND GIVE IT A TRY! It is simply a gathering of Caravan & Motorhome Club members, for a weekend or holiday, to promote friendship and pursue many pleasures, pastimes and sports, in a light hearted manner and have some fun along the way. You should never feel obliged to join in anything which does not interest you. The Rally Marshal is an ordinary member who has volunteered to organise and run the Rally. This usually includes arranging the Rally with the landowner, signing the approach to the Rally field and organising competitions and entertainment for all ages. This may include a social on the Saturday evening which is a family event with games for the children and dancing for all ages or a party in the field in Summer with sporting and fund raising events and walks throughout the season. Arrangements for a water supply and facilities for the disposal of waste water and toilet emptying will be made. Newspapers will be ordered in accordance with your instructions on the slip. The Rally usually starts at 5 pm. unless stated otherwise; this is to allow the Marshal sufficient time to prepare, so please do not arrive before. On arrival at the field, drive up to the Rally van where all will be revealed - please advise the Rally Marshal that this is your first rally. You will then be handed an envelope containing the Rally programme of activities and simple advice on local amenities, restrictions and arrangements for waste water etc. Towards the end of the Rally there is a “round the flag”. This is where the Ralliers gather at the Marshal's van to hear the results of the competitions, extend thanks to those who make the Rally possible, particularly the Marshals, welcome visitors and new Ralliers and announce forthcoming events. All you need in addition to items you would normally expect to take on a commercial site, is your own toilet together with a water container to fill it (toilets must never be taken to the drinking water tap, this is a serious health hazard), a waste bin for dry waste which you have to take home with you; simple wooden wedges and blocks are sometimes required for sloping fields. The field is marked out to ensure ample spacing between caravans and a pleasing appearance. It is intended the front offside corner of the caravan is on the marker and the owner's car is parked along the offside. Finally please read the rules which appear on the previous pages and where necessary, make sure the other members of your family are aware of what is expected of them.

NEW VENUES & RALLY PROGRAMME FORMATION Using the current guide lines for rally allocation (see page 31), one sure way of becoming a Rally Marshal is to find a new venue, you would then have first choice of running it. From February the Rally programme will be with all Committee Members for anyone interested to see how the programme is developing, but please remember that until the Rally programme is ratified by the Committee at the September meeting it is subject to change. If you have a Rally that you would like on a certain weekend because of a special event please let me know.

PROBLEMS CONTACTING A RALLY MARSHAL

If for any reason you have dificulty contacting a rally marshal about their rally then please contact myself Denis Brennan (Rally Secretary), or Ron Warner (Assistant Rally Secretary) who I am sure will be able to help you. Denis page 30 www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk RALLY SECRETARY'S MESSAGE Another year has gone and it is once again time for me to thank all who have contributed to this year’s rally programme, especially the landowners who always make us feel welcome. My thanks also to my Rally Sub Committee for their hard work and time spent putting this Rally Programme together. Finally I would like to thank you, the marshals, and all who attend the rallies. We have put together a programme that contains something for all ages and tastes. If you have any ideas for new venues for 2022 then please speak to me on the rally- field or give me a ring. You do not have to run the rally yourself but will be given first refusal. If you have never marshalled before then please think about having a go in 2022 - speak to me or any member of the Committee about what it involves. I look forward to seeing you on the rally-field. Denis

SITE FEES Site Fees are correct at the time of going to press. Your Committee have no control over changes made by the site owners or the Government. Where site fees are shown they are inclusive of 20% VAT. Generally social events carry an additional cost. GUIDELINES FOR ALLOCATING RALLIES TO RALLY MARSHALS Published with the unanimous agreement of your Committee, these guidelines for rally allocation to marshals have been used successfully for a number of years. Number of marshals Centre rule 4.5 highlights the number of marshals allowed to run a rally. For rallies greater than two nights there is a separate rally form to make the necessary request to Committee for additional marshals plus the appropriate reasoning. In this way there is a record of the request as the brochure is being put together from the rally form returns. Allocation of rallies to rally marshals  If a venue is used more than once a year but for different reasons / events functions, the rally will be offered to the last marshal for that event at that venue, In the case of a new event at a used venue then the venue will be offered to finder of the event, in the case of a centre event it will be offered, by discretion of the Committee, during the formation of the rally programme. It may well be that there will be occasions where more than one rally marshal runs an event at the same venue in the same year. Close consultation will be made throughout the formation of the rally programme with the Landowner and / or agent.  Repeat rallies for the same event, will be offered in the first instance to the previous marshal, then the co-marshal, then the floor.  Re-introduced rallies / event will be offered as above. However for fairness and encouragement to new marshals, it is hoped that if the previous marshal is holding or co-marshalling say 4 to 6 rallies or more, including new venues, then they will allow the re-introduced rally to go the floor first time round. Some common sense and goodwill is required in the spirit of fairness.  New venues / events, will be offered in the first instance to the finder. If the offer is not taken up it will be offered to the floor,  Where a rally is open to the floor, members interested should make their choice known by the show of hands. For fairness, there will be one chance per husband and wife partnership. In the event of more than one partnership interest - cards will be drawn Ace high.  In the event of a re-introduced rally not being taken up first time round, the previous marshal if holding a large number of rallies as indicated may take up the offer if previously declined. Support for new venues  A new venue found will be encouraged to run for at least two consecutive years, the year of introduction and the following year. www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk page 31 SPACING OF CARAVANS AT RALLIES There MUST be a minimum space left clear of 3 metres (10 feet) between adjoining outfits (car, caravan and awning) in any direction. It is however recommended that 6 metres (20 feet) is left between facing walls of adjacent caravans, while still ensuring that a minimum of 3 metres (10 feet) is left clear between adjacent outfits (car, caravan and awning). A 20 foot space would allow a car to be parked in the space alongside each van without SITING OF encroaching on the 10 foot minimum clear space that has to be kept. If an awning or CARAVANS sun canopy is erected the space between AT RALLIES facing walls of adjacent caravans will Where Rally Marshalls have set site need to be greater than 6 metres (20 pegs, the caravan should be parked feet) to accommodate a car, caravan, awning and a 3 metre (10 foot) space. with the front offside corner as near This minimum 3 metre (10 foot) space to the peg as possible, unless told to must be left clear throughout the rally do otherwise. and must not be encroached upon. This means that awnings, canopies, tarpaulins or windbreaks must not be used to join caravans together. A minimum distance of 4 metres (13 feet) between lines should be allowed for easy access of emergency vehicles.

Safety on Rallies 1. All vehicles are not to exceed walking pace on site and keep to the perimeter tracks as much as possible. Watch out for children playing.

2. Do not light portable barbecues near caravans or awnings without informing the Rally Officer. Beware of the dangers from sparks and sudden changes of wind direction.

3. It is advisable to have a suitable multi-purpose fire extinguisher sited near the door of the caravan, or a fire blanket. Note that dry powder extinguishers are more reliable if inverted and shaken smartly. Remember cooking oil is a great fire hazard.

4. Children should not be left alone in the caravan at anytime.

5. A special note to owners of cars fitted with catalytic converters - due to the high temperature of the exhaust pipe there is a danger of igniting the grass.

6. Where Rally Officers have set out site pegs, caravans should be parked with the offside corner as near to the peg as possible, unless told to do otherwise. All “A” frames must face the same direction. page 32 www.eastyorkshirecentre.co.uk What Are The SPORTS Trophies For?

HAVE YOU THOUGHT? What would happen if one weekend the weather was very wet and the rally marshals decided not to turn up. You would, to say the least be very disappointed and upset. HAVE YOU THOUGHT? That when you book for a rally and then do not turn up, without telling the rally marshals, that they too are very disappointed and upset, but even more important they may have reserved social tickets and arranged catering. SPARE A THOUGHT? For the rally marshal. He is not a paid employee of the club. He does what he does because in an organisation like ours the voluntary effort put in by such people enable the rest of us to enjoy our rallying. Without THEM - WE have no hobby. If you find at the last minute that you cannot make it to a rally, please do everything possible to let the marshal know and avoid them incurring financial embarrassment. Thank you.
