Biking along the valleys of Llíber and Pop Just a few kilometers off the coast, a number of colourful valleys such as the Llíber and the Pop Valleys can be found. We will come close to them by going upstream the Jalón-Gorgos river. As we merge ourselves into the scenery we will discover barnyards, ancient wells, sheds and farm houses, some of them already in ruins, giving us the impression that time has not elapsed. Then we arrive at Jalón, where we can recharge our batteries visiting the wineries, tasting the traditional spiked must or the modern wines that are made here. This is an ideal route for a Saturday, when the populous and interesting antiques market takes place. Also, Jalón has other attractions such as the stately town houses or the Ethnologic Museum. After visiting the other two viticultural villages, Llíber and Senija, we arrive at Benissa, where its interesting old quarter will surprise us. Itinerary After having visiting Dénia, to begin our route we head for the "CAMPSA" petrol station located at the city exit in the direction to Ondara. A dirt road on the right is the only one still remaining from the old Dénia-Carcaixent railroad design, dismantled in the 70's.

    COSTA NEWS, October 30-November 5, 2015 Page 57 Anglo Spanish Association visits Segovia, Salamanca and Ciudad Rodrigo October 4 saw 29 members of the Anglo Spanish Associ- ation led by Chairman, David Decker depart on a once in a lifetime trip to Segovia, Salamanca and Ciudad Ro- drigo Members had an opportunity to explore Segovia, the cathedral and the Roman Aqueduct before setting off for Salamanca, via Avila, stopping at a mirador outside of Avila to take photos of the magnificent battlements which completely surround the old city. As a result of this many of our members decided that on a free day in Salamanca, they would travel by train to Avila to ex- plore it further. Salamanca is a city founded in pre-Roman times, but first developed by the Romans in the first century BC. The name 'golden city' is a reference to the stone which almost every building is built from, having the same golden colour which you find in buildings in Bath They stayed at the Parador in Salamanca with many of the rooms offering spectacular uninterrupted views over the old city. The next day the guide starting at the Plaza Mayor, walked them all through the 'golden city' with the group gleaning many interesting facts about the buildings and sites.
