This year we celebrated it last Friday, June 8. This devotion has a centuries old tradition. Its roots are found in the Sacred Scriptures, particularly in John when the heart of Jesus was pierced. We are fortunate to have a beautiful statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the side a ltar at St. Mary’s church. It is well worth taking some time to reflect and meditate on the meaning of this statue. It depicts so well the meaning of this devotion. Jesus’ heart is the source of His love. From that pierced heart flows the graces that we need in order to remain faithful and fulfill our mission. Jesus’ heart keeps beating and pulsating for each and every one of us. He wants so much to be a part of our lives and help us experience the love and joy of knowing Him and having a relationship with Him. It is in that relationship that Pastor: Msgr: Eugene Lozinski we are transformed, for Jesus is always wanting to give us the best. His love is Senior Assoc. Pastor: Fr. Andy Michels always transformational. We slowly become different people as we deepen our Pastoral Administrator: Sr. JoAnne Backes love for Him and give our lives to Him. We slowly become immersed in His life Permanent Deacons: Mark Kober & Mike McKeown and conf orm our wills to His. A long meditation on that pulsating heart will touch us profoundly as we realize what Jesus did for us. He gave His all to save and help us. Even more beautiful is the reality that that same gift of Jesus’ death on the cross is made present in the Eucharist, so that every Mass is entering most profoundly into the central mystery of our faith. That is why the participation and reception of communion is so profoundly attached to this devotion. The devotion of the Sacred Heart leads to a great desire to be in communion with Him, which Holy Communion affects in our lives. There seems to be a revival of the enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in our homes. It is an acknowledgement that He is the head of our lives. He who we serve in this house is the Lord Jesus. He is the king of our household and the master of our lives. It is a public statement and witness to the importance of Christ in your heart. I am willing to pray the prayer and celebrate the ritual of enthronement for any one desirous of putting their home under His protection. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Praised be Jesus Christ now and forever. Msgr.
