The regional Minister of Sport visits the GSIC Madrid region’s Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, Rafael van Grieken visited the facilities of the Global Sports Innovation Center, an initiative which he described as "a great opportunity" for training centers and for the internationalization of enterprises and entrepreneurs. Van Grieken toured the Demonstration Centre Solutions with CVP for Emerging Markets in Microsoft, Orlando Ayala; the Chairman of GSIC and Sports Business General Manager in Microsoft, Sebastian Lancestrèmere, and the General Manager, Iris Cordoba. The Minister of Education, Youth and Sport thanked Microsoft for choosing Madrid for the location of GSIC, which opened in May 2015. Since then, more than 70 companies and organizations from different countries have joined the Centre, 1,200 people have attended training and knowledge transfer events held at headquarters and 12,400 visitors have toured the Demonstration Centre. "Having the opportunity to come here, know the technology and see how it applies, and to leverage networking and Microsoft technology is a real privilege and we thank Microsoft for bringing this project to Madrid," said the Minister. Orlando Ayala, CVP Emerging Markets at Microsoft, visited the GSIC headquarters, where a working meeting with strategic partners was held. This meeting was an opportunity to take stock of what has been achieved so far and also to define new lines for future performance. The strategic partners gave a positive feedback about the results for 2015 and are committed to work on the development of new technology projects that may involve the GSIC. From May to December, the GSIC reached the following: - Over 70 companies joined as partners (startups, SMEs, big companies, universities). - 65 events (training, networking, knowledge transfer, presentation of products/services). More than 1,100 people attended these events. - 12.400 visitors at the Demonstration Solution Center.

Conference ‘Legal protection of software and intellectual property’, February 17 The GSIC will hold the next February 17th the conference ‘Legal protection of software and intellectual property’. Some experts in intellectual property will speak on the key factors regarding applicable regulations, patent registration and the reuse of software for different purposes. The GSIC’s partners will shortly receive the information and program. Sport Innovation Summit, March 2 and in México DF The Sport Innovation Summit (SiS), organized by our partner Moveo Lab, is the largest sports hub of innovation and networking in Mexico. It will gather 24 top level lecturers that will speak on the innovation trends that are transforming sport industry. Next edition will take place in Mexico DF on March 2 and 3. The General Manager of CSIC, Iris Córdoba, will take part with a presentation about the role of GSIC in the framework of sport innovation. Innovative sport startups can participate in the competition Startups 2016, which provides the opportunity to get access to mentoring, networking, potential investors and visibility.  Register your project in Sis / Startups 2016

AR10 Soccer Talent (todofutboleras.com) This company is focused on sport management specializing in female soccer. They work to support the whole value chain in this discipline and have a High Performance Center (AR10 Soccer Talent) where girls aged 8 to 16 get access to training programs. The Center is also aimed to detect talent and support young girls both from the personal and sport side.

Microsoft and Viuing take disposable TV to the pitch Viuing, a technology company based in Barcelona, and Microsoft have reached an agreement to offer viewers of sporting events the Viuing technology, which will facilitate the follow-up from the stadium of all that happens within the playing field. The company is member of the Global Sports Innovation Center. Viuing is a small cardboard box with a built-in screen, based on RF technology, and an autonomy of 6 hours. It provides the users a wider follow-up of the event, as it offers real time broadcasting of what is happening in the pitch. Viuing is water resistant and recyclable, as well as exceptionally easy to use. It starts working automatically once opened and there’s no need to switch it off. This devices is disposable and can be put in a recycling container after the event in order to be used for the production of new items. El Dutch soccer champion PSV Eindhoven launches a unique virtual reality experience that puts its fans in the heart of its championship celebrations of last season’s league title. It provides soccer fans from all over the world an opportunity to get up close and personal with

famous PSV players like Memphis Depay, , and Andrés Guardado. Fans can relive scenes of lifting the trophy, the dressing room celebrations and touring the city on the famous ‘platte kar’. The video was shot with a 360VR camera with 16 lenses, which enables fans to take control over what they watch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J- MufCEMggs&feature=youtu.be). The VR experience has been produced and created by The Capitals, member of the Global Sports Innovation Center, and VR production company Purple Pill VR with the help of Southfields. “Once again we’re very proud of being PSV’s partner in creating the ultimate connected stadium and fan experience” says Thomas Engel,Creative Director of mobile first agency The Capitals. “After developing the PSV app and website we consider this the next step in creating a fantastic digital fan experience”. Young Spanish soccer players to reach their ‘American dream’ in education thanks to sport Laureus Spain Foundation and AGM Foundation have launched the one-year scholarship program ‘I Have a Dream, by which two Spanish young soccer players with low incomes may pursue their studies at an American university for the next four years. The deadline for applications is open until January 30 on the website http://agmfundacion.org/becaslaureus.php. Beneficiaries study and train in one of the more than 1,500 American universities working with the company AGM Sports.
