"Well, Reasons is my fifth installment," Omarion said. "For people who are into numbers, they know what five means, Biblically. It represents grace. I have 15 songs on my album. By the way, I did not think that I would be able to have that many songs on my album. I know that sounds weird, but a lot of people don’t know there’s a cut off from the vendors that sell the music. They like to keep it in a nice little even box. Then the title, Reasons, it’s a reason why I’m still here. There’s a reason why I’m still creating. There’s a reason why I’m motivated by my son. There’s a reason why “Post To Be” went platinum. That’s what the album is about." Omarion Reveals Kehlani Collaboration On His Upcoming Album ‘Reasons’ It’s been a couple years in the making, but Omarion ’s forthcoming album, Reasons , looks to finally be right around the corner. In a new interview with Rap-Up , the MMG crooner revealed some further details about the follow-up to 2014’s Sex Playlist , including the title of its first single “Distance,” which he already shot a music video down in South Africa for. “I can’t wait for people to hear, for people to see it,” he said about “Distance”. “We shot the video in South Africa. That was an amazing experience. We actually shot three different videos over there. It was an amazing experience to be in a place…for the first time. You’re really connected with the experience…The video is amazing. I can’t wait for people to see it.” In addition to the lead single, however, Omarion also revealed that Bay Area singer Kehlani will be featured on the album as well. “We have a song called ‘Angel’ that’s pretty awesome,” O told Rap-Up . “I remember the first time I met her. We were doing a show…I watched her perform. Everyone had been talking about her. I had to do my research. Everyone had been telling me, ‘She’s dope. She’s fly. She has a dope personality.’ It was super cool to make music with her. The song we did is super cool because I think people are gonna love how she sounds on this song. People love how she sounds and this song we have is super special.” For what it’s worth, Omarion told [HNHH] back in August of 2015 that Reasons would also see the likes of Nic Nac, James Fauntleroy , and Verse Simmonds all featured on there as well, but who knows if the same tracklist/songs still exist, though. From the viewpoint of applied linguists, this situation automatically raises the two fundamental questions of what the linguistic features of pop songs are and how pop songs contribute to language learning and education, although they have largely been neglected as a viable source of data or a topic in these fields. For this reason, on the basis of the author's original pop song corpus, this paper investigates various features identified in the lyrics of contemporary popular songs ranked in the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a decade (2002-2011) to grasp the delineation of this genre, and provides basic data utilizable for the design of future English materials and their development in detail. Introduction This paper quantitatively and qualitatively examines trends in modern pop songs and the characteristics of their lyrics, areas in which there has been almost no research to date. Even as they have begun making strides towards equality, they are still being marginalized in one of our society’s most popular and highly influential facets, hip hop culture, but more specifically rap music. This study examines the use of stereotypes within the content of misogynous rap lyrics and then compared and contrasted with their use in misogynous R&B lyrics. This study found that the stereotypes most commonly used by rap artists include the Freak, the Gold Digger, and the Stripper, while only the Freak stereotype was used often by R&B artists.
