Speaking at the function, Chief Minister of Assam said that everybody will benefit from these best practices and there is a need to raise awareness amongst the masses about various health issues for ensuring a better future. Speaking at the function, Mr Nadda said that the government is always focused on promoting innovative approaches tailored to challenges under the most able leadership of our Hon'ble Prime Minister who has given the mantra of “Reform, Perform and Transform―. He further said that we must match speed, skill and scale to get the desired results. Units are aware that AIEBA has taken up the matter with the Finance Minister and the GST Council for exempting Mediclaim policy premium paid by the retirees from the purview of GST. The matter has been taken up with IBA who have also represented to the Government not to levy GST on the premium. Since the exemption can be given only by the GST Council, we had asked all our State Federations to contact the respective GST Council Members from their States to follow up the matter and to take up the issue in the next meeting of the GST Council. Today, in Chennai, we met Shri D. Jayakumar, Hon. Minister for Personnel & Administrative Reforms, Govt. of Tamilnadu who is the Member of GST Council representing Tamilnadu Government. We submitted a copy of our letter to Finance Minister and explained the issue in detail. He was appreciative of the reasonableness of our demand and assured to write to the GST Council to discuss the issue. He also assured to pursue the matter in the GST Council meeting. He suggested that we should meet other members of the GST Council in this regard so that the issue gets some momentum. -

SPEAKER: Today, the entire country is celebrating the 79th anniversary of the Quit India Movement. 79 years ago, on this day in 1942, our Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi ji, gave the clarion call to all the countrymen to unite to liberate the country from the slavery of British rule. The movement, which started with the slogan 'Do or Die' gradually, became a people's movement. The Quit India Movement was one of the most important events of our freedom struggle, which played a decisive role in achieving the great goal of our country's independence. On this occasion, we pay our tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and all the martyrs who have laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. Hon. Members, since 12th March this year, we are celebrating the 'Amrit' Mahotsav of Independence. The festival will continue till 15th August next year, when we complete 75 years of our independence. On this occasion, we resolve to remain united to preserve the country’s sovereignty, unity and integrity. Let us all dedicate ourselves to the ideals of such great people on which they stood firm. Press Information Bureau Government of India ***** Shri Amit Shah presides over signing of Historic Agreement to end the Bru-Reang Refugee Crisis; Around 34,000 Internally Displaced People to be settled in Tripura Modi Government to give package of around Rs. 600 crores to Tripura for the rehabilitation and all round development of Bru-Reang Refugees: Shri Amit Shah New Delhi, January 16, 2020 Union Minister for Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah presided over the signing of an agreement between Government of India, Governments of Tripura and Mizoram and Bru-Reang representatives in New Delhi today, to end the 23-year old Bru-Reang refugee crisis. Present on the occasion were Chief Minister of Mizoram, Shri Zoramthanga, CM of Tripura, Shri Biplab Kumar Deb, Chairman, NEDA, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chairman, TIPRA, Shri Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, representatives of Bru tribes, along with senior officers. This historic agreement is in line with PM Modi’s vision for the progress of the North East and the empowerment of the people of the region. Ever since taking office, PM Modi has initiated numerous policy level interventions that have improved infrastructure, connectivity, economic growth, tourism and social development of the region. Briefing the media, Shri Shah said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi a permanent solution has been arrived to this long standing issue of rehabilitating thousands of Bru-Reang people in Tripura and they can now look towards a bright future. Under the new agreement, he informed, around 34,000 Bru refugees will be settled in Tripura and would be given aid from the Centre to help with their rehabilitation and all round development, through a package of around Rs 600 crores.
