The service can be followed in the main booklet, while this week’s hymn numbers, the readings and prayers can be found on the sheet which accompanies this one. Please do join us for coffee in the Chapter House after the service. TODAY The Dean This morning the Dean is preaching at St Saviour’s, Coalpit Heath. The Revd Professor Martin Gainsborough This afternoon, Martin Gainsborough will be installed as an Honorary Canon. Martin is a Professor of Politics in Bristol University and formerly the priest in charge at St Luke’s Barton Hill. He comes to the Cathedral as a Canon and member of Chapter to work with us in our engagement with the city and on questions of ethics and justice. Sacred Space Sacred Space takes place at 6.00pm in the candlelit Eastern Lady Chapel. The theme this evening is ‘The New Commandment’, and everyone is invited. At the end of May, Sacred Space will break for the summer, returning in the autumn. THIS WEEK Henry V Following a highly successful run in the West End, award-winning theatre company Antic Disposition present their critically acclaimed adaptation of Shakespeare’s Henry V here on 25 and 26 April. Tickets are available at anticdisposition.co.uk or by calling 0333 666 3366. Further information can be found on the Cathedral website. Lunchtime Recital On Tuesday 26 April, at 1.15pm, Lucy Hewson (violin) & Imogen Windsor (piano) will give a recital. All are welcome and admission is free. For details of this term’s recitals, please take a programme from the literature table. NEXT WEEK Ascension Day On Thursday 5 May we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension with a Choral Eucharist at 6.00pm sung by the Cathedral Consort. All are welcome. BEYOND Open Fellowship On Tuesday 10 May Canon Martin Gainsborough may widen our horizons by asking the question, The Problems of Development: can Theology help? It follows Evensong at 5.15pm with a shared light supper at 5.55pm. The meeting ends at 7.25pm. Trinity Lunch We are holding a Community Lunch on Trinity Sunday, our Feast of Title, on 22 May rather than on the first Sunday of the month as usual. We invite all our Volunteers to join us on this celebratory occasion. As this is a well-attended and event and numbers are limited, to assist with catering please sign up on the list in the Chapter House by Monday 8 May. There will be no charge for this lunch but any donations will go to the Working Hands charity supporting surgical work in Nepal. GENERAL Friends of Bristol Cathedral By kind permission of the Dean and Mrs Hoyle, the Friends have been invited to drinks at the Deanery on Tuesday 24 May.
