The leisure facilities in Irlam and Cadishead are expanding with the new Acorn Sports and Art Centre recently opened and a new football ground also recently re-established. Fit City have two centres - one in each district - comprising a large swimming pool and sports facilities. There is also an active angling club and the old river makes excellent fishing.

Irlam and Cadishead benefit from large expanses of open space and parks. A major community consultation on Prince’s Park, Cadishead Park and Lords Street Recreation Ground has taken place and an action plan has been drawn up with ideas for improvement.
