Dibru-Saikhowa National Park Spread across 650 square kilometer, Dibru-Saikhowa National Park ranks amongst Assam’s largest parks. It owns the credit of being one amongst nineteen biodiversity hotspots the world over. Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is 12 km away from Tinsukia. With Brahmaputra River and to its north and Dibru River to its south, the park located at an altitude of 118 meter above sea level, sets your spirit soaring. The park has a wide range of wild species. Some of the animals found here include Royal Bengal tiger, jungle cat, leopard, sambar, Assamese Macaque, capped langur, Asian elephant, barking deer and Asiatic water buffalo. White winged wood duck and semi-wild horse are the main attractions in this park. Over 350 bird species are seen here and hence bird watchers love this place. The park is renowned for the varieties of fish found here.

Bherjan-Borjan-Padumoni Wildlife Sanctuary Situated 6 kms away from Tinsukia, Bherjan-Borjan-Padumoni Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the leading attractions in the city. Bherjan, Borajan and Padumoni are three separate forests and together they occupy an area of 7.22 square kilometer to form this sanctuary. Semi-evergreen forests and stunning tea estates in the sanctuary attract tourists from across the globe. Day-3 / Tinsukia to Pasighat / 250km/7hrs

Post breakfast drive towards Pasighat via Sadiya, a natural hill station at Himalayan Foothills – Enjoy the trip – Enjoy the scenic beauty – On the way enjoy the longest bridge in in India – Post Sadiya the journey will be full of river valleys, foothills, water streams, forests and so on – By afternoon reach Daying Ering WLS – Enjoy the place – Move on to Pasighat - Check in hotel at Pasighat by evening – Overnight stay at Pasighat.

Dhola Sadiya Bridge Spanning 9.15 km, the bridge is built across the Lohit river, which is a tributary of the Brahmaputra. It will connect Assam and eastern Arunachal Pradesh. The total length of the project, including the approach roads on each side, is 28.50 km. The bridge is located 540 km from Assam’s capital Dispur and 300 km from Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar. It connects Sadia town in Assam’s Tinsukia district with Dhola village, also in Assam. The bridge will reduce the travel time between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh from six hours to just one hour as the distance will shrink by 165 km. It is 3.55 km longer than the Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai. The sea link has now become the second longest river bridge in the country. The construction of the Dhola-Sadiya bridge began in 2011 by the Ministry of Road Transport along with Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd., under the public-private-partnership agreement. A sum of ₹ Rs 2,056 crore has been spent on the bridge that can withstand 60 tonnes of weight, including battle tanks.

During Medieval times, Sadiya was mentioned in its present name. Sadiya was a center point for trading thanks to the various trade routes established during medieval period. Tibet, Myanmar and China are some of the countries to which trade routes were established from Sadiya.

Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary (13 km from Pasighat) is spread over a cluster of river islands. A cruise through the Siang River is the only way to reach the sanctuary. One can reach there by cruising the Siang River. The unique ecosystem of this sanctuary has made it a natural habitat for different species of birds including migratory birds like cranes, wild ducks, storks, waterfowls, etc, which come from Siberia and Mongolia from September to February every year. The sanctuary is a veritable delight to amateur and professional ornithologists. The forest islands are home to hog deer, hispid hare, and wild buffalo, Sambars, elephants and other rainforest macro and micro fauna.

Day-4 / Pasighat Sight Seen

Pasighat Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district is located 270 kms away from itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the oldest administrative center of erstwhile NEFA. It is situated on the banks of the mighty river Siang, the main tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra river. Bounded by snowclad peaks, rocky mountains and a variety of flora & fauna, this circuit offers a unique opportunity for anyone who loves nature. Situated at 155 meters, Pasighat is the land of the mighty Siang and indigenous hanging bridges. Round cane rings, swinging strings, shattered wooden pavements dangling above the mighty Siang makes it a picture perfect moment of thrill and adventure. The pleasant waterfall graces the mountain cliffs and chills the vicinity. The musical tumbling sound of the water, the cool breezes procreating from the waterfall dips down the temperature. Pangin Around 60km from Pasighat, this is the point where green water of River Siang meets the blue water of River Siyom and presents a marvelous sight.

The Sigem-Daporijo Reserve Forest and Kamala Reserve Forest with its rich avi-fauna diversity are worth seeing. Subansiri River is also ideal for river rafting, angling and picnic. Museum and Craft Centre are other places which could hold your interest. Daporijo is a scenic town situated 600 meters above the sea level in the upper Subansiri district of the north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Daporijo is typically a good town to stopover on the route of Along to Ziro for a break. The town is known for its varied ethnic cultures succinct at one place. River Subansiri ( a tributary of Brahmaputra ) gives a panoramic view flowing in the immediate vicinity of the town. This is a home of people of different tribes like Tagin, Galo, Hilmiri etc. one of the oldest being Mishmi, which are believed to have existed since the Mahabharata era. Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary Talley Valley is a wildlife sanctuary as well as a bio-diversity hotspot located at a distance of 32 kms from Ziro towards the north east. Comprising sub- tropical and alpine forests it has a variety of flora and fauna, many of which are endangered. The place offers great trekking opportunities. Talley Valley Reserved Forest and Talley Wildlife sanctuary is situated at an elevated level with rivers like Pange, Sipu, Karing and Subansiri flowing through the Reserved Forest and Sanctuary. It is home to highly endangered species like clouded leopard. Pleioblastus Simone is a bamboo variety only found in Talley Valley. If lucky, you will get an opportunity to see clouded leopards.

Apatani Tribals This town is inhabited by the Apatani Tribals whose primary occupation is hunting and zoom cultivation. They are skilled in making a local wine called 'Apang'. Day-3 / Tinsukia to Parasuram Kund / 160km/4.5hrs

Sadiya Sadiya lies on Himalayan foothills and hence what more could be said to highlight its beauty? This small town is surrounded by rivers on three sides, which flow into the valley of the majestic Brahmaputra and has Arunachal Pradesh on one side. Sadiya is where the mighty Himalayan ranges meet the famous Brahmaputra River. The land has a rich culture too. It is mentioned in ancient Indian mythology however, it is referred to as Vidarbha kingdom. During Medieval times, Sadiya was mentioned in its present name. Sadiya was a center point for trading thanks to the various trade routes established during medieval period. Tibet, Myanmar and China are some of the countries to which trade routes were established from Sadiya.

Momong Buddhist Temple The Momong vihara is the earliest Theravada Buddhist temple in Arunachal Pradesh which is said to be built in 1881 a.d. It is located at Momong village, at a distance of 22 km from Namsai. Locally called 'Kyong Momong', this magnificent late 19th century temple is the epitome of Tai Khamti architecture. However, the recent renovated structure was constructed in 1928, but its architectural design remained in its original form of Khamti art and donot reflect the Burmese style of temple architecture. Momong vihara contains one of the earliest bronze images of Buddha of the area brought from Myanmar, sometimes in later part of the nineteenth century. The temple consists of a big and spacious prayer hall with an altar. On the left wall of the altar, mural paintings depicting stories from Buddhist Jatakas can be identified.

Parasuram Kund – 5km/0.5hrs Parasuram Kund is situated within the Kamlang Reserve Forest area. This place on the Lohit River carries a strong mythological link with the legend of Parsurama, a Hindu sage. According to the legend, sage Parsurama washed away his sin of matricide in the waters of the Lohit river at Bramhakund. Each year thousands of pilgrims from all over the country congregate on day, to wash away their sins. A fair (mela) is held during this period. Parshuam Kund Mela is an annual religious fair which is celebrated near Parshuram Kund, which is based at a distance of nearly 3 miles from the north-eastern portion of , which is the district headquarters of the district of Lohit in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. On Paush sankranti, a Parshuram Mela is held near this place on 4th January every year, which is attended by innumerable saints and devotees from across the nation, despite the severe cold.

Parshuram Kund is situated within the Kamlang Reserve Forest area in of Arunachal Pradesh. The Kund is surrounded by dense forest of Ruddraksha trees, the fruit of which is considered sacred to Hindu ascetics as well as general believers of the faith. This place on the Lohit River carries a strong mythological link with the Kalika Purana, the Srimad Bhagavat and the Mahabharata; sage Parsurama washed away his sin of matricide in the waters of the Lohit River at Bramhakund. The site of the Parashuram Kund as established by the was in existence until the 1950 Assam earthquake that shook the whole of the North-East and the kund was completely covered. A very strong current is now flowing over the original site of the kund but massive boulders have in a mysterious way embedded themselves in a circular formation in the river bed thus forming another kund in place of the old.

Namdhapa National Park – 140km/5hrs A Tiger Reserve and National Park, a true wilderness and enchanting beauty of lush green vegetation, impenetrable pristine and virgin forests covered an area of 1985.23 square kilometres having diverse flora and fauna lies in the international border between India and Myanmar(Burma) within in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in the northeast India. Namdapha National Park is located at a few kilometre away from Miao amidst misty blue hills along the turbulent Noa-Dihing river lies in the sprawling tropical rain forest. It was declared as Tiger Reserve by the Government in 1983.

The beautiful forests possess great biodiversity of Flora and Fauna. A details study of its species and genetic variation has not yet been thoroughly done. Namdapha is Botanist's dream and it may take as long as 50 years to complete a conprehensive survey of its botanical resources. There are more than 150 timber species. The Pinus merkusi and Abies delavavi are not found elsewhere in India. One of the rarest and endangered orchids, the Blue Vanda found here. The most famous local madicinal plant Mishimi Teeta (Copti teeta), which is used by the local tribal for all kinds of diseases is available here but its export has been banned.

The diverse vegetations and habitats of Namdapha grooms diverse species of animals and birds. It is only park in the World to have the four Feline species of big cat namely the Tiger (Panthera Tigris), Leopard (Panthera Pardus), Snow Leopard (Panthera Uncia) and Clouded Leopard (Neofelis Nebulosa) and numbers of Lesser cats. A number of primate species are seen in the park, such as Assamese macaque, pig-tailed macaque, stump- tailed macaque and number of the distictive Hoolock Gibbons (Hylobates Hoolock), highly endangered and only 'ape' species found in India dwells in this impenetrable virgin forest. The water of the lake is absolutely crystal clear and a walk around the lake fills one with divine pleasure. Sally Lake Just three kilometers away for Roing, you are at a famous Sally Lake, a natural lake surrounded by thick green forest provides a serene and tranquil atmosphere. Iphi Pani Ghat Ten kilometers from Roing Township is the Iphi-pani ghat where you can have a picturesque view of the plain valley of river Dibang. Nijomaghat Fifteen kilometers from the Roing Township is this historical Nizamgha, established by Britishers in the nineteenth century. It is named after the British Political Officer J.F.Needham. The river flowing between lofty mountains and rocky surroundings with the soothing effect of lush vegetation makes this spot a lovely picnic point. A small ferry here connects Dambuk to Roing. Pasighat Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district is located 270 kms away from itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the oldest administrative center of erstwhile NEFA. It is situated on the banks of the mighty river Siang, the main tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra river. Bounded by snowclad peaks, rocky mountains and a variety of flora & fauna, this circuit offers a unique opportunity for anyone who loves nature. Situated at 155 meters, Pasighat is the land of the mighty Siang and indigenous hanging bridges. Round cane rings, swinging strings, shattered wooden pavements dangling above the mighty Siang makes it a picture perfect moment of thrill and adventure. The pleasant waterfall graces the mountain cliffs and chills the vicinity. The musical tumbling sound of the water, the cool breezes procreating from the waterfall dips down the temperature. The songs of the birds, the fragrances of the forest after the rains are simply overpowering.

River Siang Siang river, which originates from Tibet and forms the main flow of the mighty Brahmaputra, is a socio-cultural poetry with a unique personification of its own. Many rapids on the Siang river have been a prime attraction for River rafting and water sports. The challenging expedition begins at Tuting in Upper Siang. The river runs through the gorges of Nigguing and Marmon, both, with their thick forest covering, reaching up to the heavens. It negotiates the finest big volume white water in an area, which is often rated as one of the most inaccessible in the world-just getting to the jump-off point takes a journey of four days by boat and jeep. The self- contained 180-km run from Tuting to Pasighat includes a 10-mile stretch of massive rapids with names such as Moing Madness, Zebra Rock and Pulsating Palìsi. But there are calmer moments on the river where one can just float along with the current. The adrenaline rush is high and you’ll be able to dine out for months on the tales you take back home. Abundance of rich aquatic life has attracted anglers again and again.

Kekar Monying This is a mountain cliff near Rottung and is an important historical place too. In 1911, Adi tribesmen put up a strong fight against the British.

Dibang Valley National Park

The Dibang wildlife sanctuary lies nestled in the Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the eight wildlife sanctuaries, located in north east of Anini, in Arunachal Pradesh which occupies part of the Eastern Himalayas. has been named after the Dibang River, a tributary of Brahmaputra River. The altitude ranges between 1800m and 5000m. Moreover, the topology of complex rugged terrain hill varies from steep to very steep. Stretched across an area of 4,149 sq km, the lofty mountains, snow covered peaks, deep gorges, forests and rivers make this place abundant in natural beauty, adventurous expeditions, flora and fauna. Adjacent to the Mouling National Park, it was established in 1980s. Later in 1988, as per the guidelines of UNESCO, together these areas became part of Dibang Biosphere Reserve, one of the major bio-diversity hotspots of the world. The protection of the rich bio diversity is in the hands of Department of Environment and Forest of Arunachal Pradesh. The surroundings are sparsely populated and inhabited by Idu Mishmi tribes. One cannot give a miss to the snow lake called alpine Kahaiwhite Lake and Valley of Flowers, hailed as the most renowned tourist attractions.

The temperature ranges between 18 degree Celsius and 22 degree Celsius during summers. Apart from freezing temperature, winter is accompanied by heavy snowfall of nearly 6m to 10m depth. It receives heavy rainfall from south west and north east monsoon. It consists of vegetation of moist temperate and alpine type. The two main categories of vegetation are temperate broad leaved forest and temperate conifer forest (Rhododendra, Bamboo, Gregaria, Tsuga etc). Alpine vegetation occurs at higher altitude with herbs, stunted trees and dwarf bushes. During flowering season in the month of May and June for brief time, one can witness the stretch of bright coloured gregarious flowering. It is a rare opportunity to witness a number of species of the same family existing together in the same place. Snow leopards thrive in proximity to high altitudes whereas clouded leopards are found in lower latitudinal zones. Other species of fauna are Gongshan muntjac, Asiatic black bear, Mishmi hills flying giant squirrel, otter, sloth bear and macaque. Out of the 190 species of avifauna found, Temminck’s Tragopan, Japanese Bush Warbler, Blyth’s Tragopan, Rufus Tailed Babbler and Sclater’s Monal are some of rare ones. Parshuram Kund

Parshuram Kund is situated within the Kamlang Reserve Forest area in Lohit District of Arunachal Pradesh. The Kund is surrounded by dense forest of Ruddraksha trees, the fruit of which is considered sacred to Hindu ascetics as well as general believers of the faith. This place on the Lohit River carries a strong mythological link with the Kalika Purana, the Srimad Bhagavat and the Mahabharata; sage Parsurama washed away his sin of matricide in the waters of the Lohit River at Bramhakund. Each year thousands of pilgrims from all over the country congregate on Makar Sankrati day, to wash away their sins. A fair (Mela) is held during this period.

Parshuam Kund Mela is an annual religious fair which is celebrated near Parshuram Kund, which is based at a distance of nearly 3 miles from the north-eastern portion of Tezu, which is the district headquarters of the district of Lohit in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. On Paush sankranti, a Parshuram Mela is held near this place on 4th January every year, which is attended by innumerable saints and devotees from across the nation, despite the severe cold. Apart from taking a dip in the water, one can try trekking from Tezu to Glow Lake which takes one day; hiking, river rafting and angling on the River Lohit are also ideal.

Along / Aalo

The ancient inhabitant of this land of valley and rivers are the Mishmi tribes. The Mishmi tribes have traditions and customs dating back to the times of Mahabharata. According to sacred Hindu traditions, Lord Krishna's first queen Rukmini was a Mishmi Damsel. The major Mishmi God is Ringyajabmalu and the major Mishmi festival is known as Tamladu puja. It is celebrated each year on 15 February. People from all communities and all walks of life are invited to join in the celebrations. The Holy Parshuram Kund is also nearby and thousands of Hindu pilgrims from all over India, and also from neighbouring countries, come to take a holy dip and wash away the sins of millions of births. This is accompanied with a fair at Tezu and takes place every year during the month of January. The major agricultural products are mustard, ginger and oranges.

Tezu Park is a centrally located park in the town, which is ideal for spending time with friends and family. It is a well-manicured garden with a lot of flora to be witnessed. A lot of people prefer to come here for daily leisurely walk. There are a number of rides to keep the children engaged.

A small cantonment area in Arunachal Pradesh, Walong is the eastmost town where the first sun rays fall in India. Walong is mainly known for its memorials to the Indians died during the 1962- Sino-Indian War. The memorial is located on the road leading North to . There are also two small temples, located in on 'Helmet Top', a hill position some 18 kilometers away. Walong is also known for hot water spring, which is hardly 9 kilometers from the main city. The hot water spring attracts a good number of tourists from other parts of India. The border is approximately 50 kilometers from Walong. At Walong, make a point to visit the memorial to the Indian war dead of 1962. You can also visit Dong, the easternmost village which is hardly a kilometer away, and known for its sunrise.

Walong's lies on the west bank of the Lohit River (a tributary of the Brahmaputra), approximately 20 kilometres south of the Chinese border. Just north of the border lies the Tibetan trading town of Rima. The forest around Walong is rich in wildlife. Rare mammals such as Mishmi takin, Red goral and Leaf muntjac occurs while among birds there is the rare Sclater's Monal. A flying squirrel, new to science, i.e., Mishmi Hills Giant Flying Squirrel Petaurista mishmiensis also occurs in this district (site of a paratype). In autumn of 1962, during the Sino-Indian War, Walong was the scene of the battle of Walong, where the Indian Army 11th Infantry Brigade battled the Chinese advances. The Indians were defeated decisively by the Chinese. Only Mao's decision to withdraw the PLA allowed the Indians to retake Walong. A canopied memorial to the Indian war dead of 1962 was erected long ago next to the airstrip.

Miao

Miao is an exquisite sub-divisional headquarter in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. It’s located at a picturesque location of Arunachal where Noa-dihang River, a tributary of Brahmaputra, flows to the north of the town while the Patkai Bum Mountain Range of Eastern Himalayas lies handy at the eastern outskirts. International border of Myanmar is just few kilometers from this area. The region in heavily forested disguising the gradual rise of the Patkai Bum Hills. The altitudinal variation of Changlang district ranges from 400 meters to 2500 metres. Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve is the third largest national park of India. Namdapha is distinguished for its preservation of big cats like - Snow leopards, clouded leopards, common leopards and tigers.
