Orientador: Prof. Dr. Luiz Ricardo Lopes de Simone São Paulo 2019 RESUMO O presente estudo teve como objetivo realizar o levantamento da malacofauna terrestre e dulcícola da mesorregião do Centro-Sul Baiano, através de duas coletas em períodos distintos nos munícipios de Condeúba, Cordeiros, Mortugaba e Piripá. O desenvolvimento do trabalho seguiu as etapas de análise de dados da literatura, verificação do material histórico da coleção do MZSP, e a realização de uma sinopse taxonômica do material obtido. O levantamento resultou em 21 espécies de gastrópodes, 664 exemplares, sendo 102 terrestres e 562 de água doce, para os quatro municípios supracitados, das quais 95% evidenciaram novos registros, sendo 30% aproximadamente das espécies coletadas, exóticas, somente a espécie Melanoides tuberculatus já é conhecida para a região. -

A Malacological Journal ISSN 1565-1916 No. 36 - SUPPLEMENT DECEMBER 2017 2 SURVEY OF THE LITERATURE ON RECENT SHELLS FROM THE RED SEA (third enlarged and revised edition) L.J. van Gemert* Summary This literature survey lists approximately 3,050 references. Shells are being considered here as the shell bearing molluscs of the Gastropoda, Bivalvia and Scaphopoda. The area does not only comprise the Red Sea, but also the Gulf of Aden, Somalia and the Suez Canal, including the Lessepsian species in the Mediterranean Sea. Literature on fossils shells, particularly those from the Holocene, Pleistocene and Pliocene, is listed too. Introduction My interest in recent shells from the Red Sea dates from about 1996. Since then, I have been, now and then, trying to obtain information on this subject. Some years ago I decide to stop gathering data in a haphazard way and to do it more properly. This resulted in a first survey of approximately 1,420 and a second one of 2,025 references (van Gemert, 2010 & 2011). Since then, this survey has again been enlarged and revised and a number of errors have been corrected. It contains now approximately 3,050 references. Scope In principle every publication in which molluscs are reported to live or have lived in the Red Sea should be listed in the survey. This means that besides primary literature, i.e. articles in which researchers are reporting their finds for the first time, secondary and tertiary literature, i.e. reviews, monographs, books, etc are to be included too. These publications were written not only by a wide range of authors ranging from amateur shell collectors to professional malacologists but also people interested in the field of archaeology, geology, etc. -

All the above species were previously known from very restricted areas or just from their type locality. A possible record of Streptartemon aff. cookeanus (F. Baker, 1914) (Streptaxidae) is also reported herein. The two endemic subspecies known, Albinaria (Albinaria) brevicollis astropalia (O. Boettger, 1883) and A. (A.) brevicollis maltezana Nordsieck, 2015 are redescribed and illus- trated for shell and genital morphology. Furthermore A. (A.) brevicollis cf. sica Fuchs et Käufel, 1936 is reported for the first time from the north-east Astypalea, and two new subspecies, A. (A.) brevicollis granoi n. ssp. and A. They are currently allocated in two subgenera, Hyperaulax s. str. and Bonnanius Jousseaume, 1900, belonging to the family Odontostomidae. Herein we present a taxonomic revision of these species, assessing their familiar allocation within Orthalicoidea, offering updated diagnoses and descriptions, figuring the type materials and further relevant specimens, and providing barcoding DNA sequences. We conclude that Bonnanius is a junior synonym of Hyperaulax, which is classified in Odontostomidae. The genus contains two valid species, H. ridleyi and H. ramagei, both endemic to Fernando de Noronha. SIMONE Abstract A list of Brazilian terrestrial and freshwater gastropod species and genera described from 2006 to 2016 is presented, updating the previous catalogue of SIMONE (2006). Colored photographs of type specimens, as well as information on type material, distribution and taxonomy are also provided. The list encompasses 42 recently described species, largely pulmonates, including 39 terrestrial, and three freshwater taxa. El¿bieta was a well-known and valued malacologist, and a staff member of the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University. Besides malacology, her research interests included biology teaching. She was buried in Poznañ, at the parish cemetery, Jasna Rola Street. On the first anniversary of her death we would like to commemo- rate her, and recall her main achievements as a mala- cologist and as a teacher. El¿bieta Koralewska-Batura was born on the 12th of May 1949 in Pyzdry, Wrzeœnia district (Wielko- polska voivodeship). Having finished elementary school, she continued her education at the Pedagogi- cal High School in Konin. After her school leaving exam she spent half a year working as a teacher in an elementary school. In 1969 El¿bieta started her bio- logical studies at the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznañ. During all her study period she was an outstanding student. In 1974 she obtained her master’s degree in biology (zoology), with top grades. The title of El¿bie- ta’s master’s thesis was “Œlimaki (Gastropoda) l¹dowe i wodne Ziemi Wrzesiñskiej” [Terrestrial and fresh- water gastropods of the Wrzeœnia Region]; the thesis was prepared at the Department of General Zoology and supervised by the outstanding malacologist Pro- fessor Jaros³aw Urbañski. -
