NAAC Peer Team visit to IQAC Documentation Centre NAAC Peer Committee Exit Meeting Shivaji University, Kolhapur 52nd Annual Report Retrospection It gives me immense pleasure while presenting to you the 52nd Annual Report of Shivaji University which is the first report after I assumed office as the Vice Chancellor of the university. The report takes into consideration the academic and other achievements of the university, affiliated colleges, administrative sections, departments and institutions during the period from 1st July, 2014 to 30th June, 2015. Shivaji University is named after the most valorous, legendary and exemplary personality of Shivaji the Great. The university has the legacy of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, pioneer social reformer Mahatma Phule and the architect of Indian Constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. As the 12th Vice Chancellor of the university I make a special mention of the first Vice Chancellor of the university Dr. Appasaheb Pawar whose painstaking efforts are responsible for the establishment of this university. NAAC Bangalore peer team visited the Shivaji University during 24th to 27th September, 2014 and was officially nominated Grade ‘A’. The CGPA Score of the university is 3.16 and it’s the highest among all non- agricultural universities. I think this is the most commendable achievement of the university in its history. All teachers in all the university departments, non-teaching staff, officers, teachers in the affiliated colleges, present and former students and their parents deserve the credit of university achievements. Their constant hard work has transformed this golden dream of success into reality. The university has shown a good awareness of the environmental consciousness in the self-sufficiency in water usage by harvesting the rain water, management of solid and chemical waste, 29 patents in science and technology, lead college and weak college schemes, accounts code, earn and learn scheme, secured remote paper distribution (S. R. P. D.), special provision for differently abled students and teachers and all such achievements are commended in the NAAC Peer Team Report. The 51st Annual Convocation Ceremony of the university was organized on 29th January, 2015. Padmabhushan, Padmavibhushan Dr. Jayant Narlikar, astro-physicist of international repute and Marathi Science Fiction writer and promoter was the chief guest of the occasion. Hon. • Tourism Development for Forts in Maharashtra, India
International Journal of Management, Technology And Engineering ISSN NO : 2249-7455 Modern Project Management for Heritage Conservation: Tourism Development for Forts in Maharashtra, India Dr. Parag Govardhan Narkhede , Prof. Mrudula Darade 1. BKPS College of Architecture, Pune 2. D Y Patil School of Architecture, Charholi, Pune, India ABSTRACT Modern project management techniques are essential for heritage preservation. Implementation of conservation proposals through management is more effective in terms of duration taken and on time completion. The paper deals with the study of forts in Maharashtra Region for the feasibility and potential to develop them as a tourist destination through conservation and preservation. The paper discusses the issues, constraints and potential of tourism in the study area for the future development. And suggest a methodology and guidelines for planning and development of forts considering Eco-Tourism to promote the Tourism activity. Affordability of people is increased due to Globalization and IT Sector, so there is demand for this kind of development. Since there are 350 odd forts in Maharashtra, standing as silent sentinels to history there is a very high Tourism Potential which could develop through the preservation and conservation of the same. Ideal management techniques for the same are to be identified and appropriate recommendations are to be suggested as an outcome of study. 1. INTRODUCTION Tourism in the form of activity influences the regions in which it is developed and received with economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. PREC, Newsletter SEPTEMBER 2019, VOLUME 1, ISSUE 4 NEWSLETTER PREC, Newsletter SEPTEMBER 2019, VOLUME 1, ISSUE 4 A lecture on the “Future of the Global Industry” was delivered by Dr. Y. S. P. Thorat, Director General, Pravara Rural Education Society at th the London School of Economics and Politics on 26 September 2019. Excerpt from his speech: There have always been the 3 constants ... Death, Taxes and CHANGE! Software: Software will disrupt most traditional industries in the next 5-10 years. Uber is just a software tool, they don't own any cars, and are now the biggest taxi company in the world. Airbnb is now the biggest hotel company in the world, although they don't own any properties. Artificial Intelligence: Computers become exponentially better in understanding the world. This year, a computer beat the best Go player in the world, 10 years earlier than expected. In the US, young lawyers already don't get jobs. Because of IBM Watson, you can get legal advice (so far for more or less basic stuff) within seconds, with 90% accuracy compared with 70% accuracy when done by humans. So if you study law, stop immediately. There will be 90% less lawyers in the future, only specialists will remain. Watson already helps nurses diagnosing cancer, 4 times more accurate than human nurses. Facebook now has a pattern recognition software that can recognize faces better than humans. In 2030, computers will become more intelligent than humans. AutonoMOUs Cars: In 2019 the first self-driving cars will appear for the public. Around 2020, the complete industry will start to be disrupted.
