Story and pictures by Making Singapore A ‘City For All Ages’ Vanessa Teo oring, useless and slow. These are often the words that would appear in one’s mind when the word ‘aging’ comes into the picture. However, the Council For Third Age (C3A) has something different in mind, and believes that agingB can be fun, meaningful and beautiful as long as one choose to age actively. This explains its fifth run of the Active Aging Carnival (AAC) held from 1 to 3 April 2011, which aims to encourage seniors to stay active and meaningfully engaged. Concurrently held was also its 50plus Expo 2011, where seniors were able to grab great deals for food and nutrition, beauty and fitness and other products that enhance their lifestyles. One of the key highlights of the 50plus Expo 2011 was an exhibition titled `My Life, My Home’, which is an education initiative organised by C3A with support from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and in partnership with the Housing Development Board (HDB) and other distinguished partners. Shared C3A Chairman Gerard Ee: “‘My Life, My Home’ is an exhibition cum retail area that focuses on priority area for seniors - which is to be able to age in place. This exhibition is a snapshot of the products and services available to help seniors live independently in the familiarity of their homes and neighbourhood… Minister Lim Boon Heng (in yellow shirt) gets his turn at navigating the obstacle course.
