The Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football Club is one of twenty teams in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). The CJFL was founded in 1883 and is Canada’s oldest national amateur football league. Teams are located across the country from Victoria to Montreal and have competed for a national title (now called the Canadian Bowl) for over 100 years. The Winnipeg Rifles are members of the Prairie Football Conference (PFC) and play against the Edmonton Huskies, Calgary Colts, Edmonton Wildcats, Regina Thunder, and the storied Saskatoon Hilltops. The PFC is one of the most competitive conferences hosting some very fierce rivalries. PFC teams have won 15 of the last 18 National Championships. Many former CJFL alumni have gone onto successful continued careers and include CFL hall of Fame players John Bonk, Chris Walby, Peter Dalla Riva, Bill Baker, Roger Aldag, and Tony Gabriel. Recently, players like Andrew Harris, Stu Foorde, J.R. Larose and Rifles Alumni Brett Carter have all taken advantage of the unique territorial exemption agreement between the CJFL and CFL and were able to move to CFL clubs directly from the CJFL.
The Rifles annual operational budget exceeds $300,000. The club receives generous support from the Bombers and other corporate sponsors, however, individual players are required to cover a portion of these costs through yearly player’s fees. For 2014 these fees have been set at $700.
By filling out the information below and attaching a cheque made payable to “The Winnipeg Rifles”, your donation will help offset those fees. The Rifles will email a receipt to the Sponsor named below:
