Briefing Book (Updated up to 30th June, 2013) Geological Survey of India Western Region EXECUTIVE SUMMARY E X E C U T I V E S U M M A R Y 1. All the items proposed for the Field Season 2013-14 were timely initiated under the different Missions. 2. The highlight of work carried out during the first quarter of F.S. 2013-14 includes investigations on copper and associated precious metals in Khera block, and Khera SE block, Mundiyawas-ka-khera area, Alwar district and exploration for basemetal in Nanagwas area, Sikar district Rajasthan. Beside encouraging values in the analytical results have been obtained for the item on investigation for basemetal and associated gold mineralization in Rampuriya- Gadariyakhera Block, Pur-Banera belt, Bhilwara district, Rajasthan for F.S. 2012-13. 3. Work in the Mundiyawas Khera copper prospect, Alwar district, Rajasthan continues to give significant results. The four boreholes drilled during the period, have intersected rich zones of mineralisation. Part analytical results of the borehole KBH-6 indicate 84.60 m thick Cu lode with 0.33% Cu at 0.2% Cu cut off and associated silver and gold (one Au lodes of 1.5 m thickness with 1.08 g/t Au and Two Ag lodes of 3.5 m cumulative thickness with 12.0 g/t Ag). The borehole KBH-7 intersected 20.60 m thick Cu lode with 0.23% Cu at 0.2% Cu cut off and associated silver and gold (one Au lodes of 1.0 m thickness with 0.58 g/t Au and one Ag lodes of 2.45 m cumulative thickness with 10.0 g/t Ag). The borehole KBH-8 encountered a 48.40 m thick Cu lode with 0.28% Cu at 0.2% Cu cut off. The borehole KBH-9 recorded 33.10 m thick Cu lode with 0.34% Cu at 0.2% Cu cut off and associated silver (four Ag lodes of 11.55 m cumulative thickness with 7.140 g/t Ag). 4. In Khera SE block, the first borehole KEBH-1 (FS 2013-14, Item No. 45) along the profile line KECHN-1, has intersected sulphides in the form of chalcopyrite, arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite from 41.20 m depth along the borehole besides native copper, bornite and covellite with Cu (V.E 0.3-0.5%) from 68.20 m to 87.35 m within the dolomitic marble intercalated with cherty quartzite bands. Native copper occurs as vug fillings, fracture fillings and streaks within the oxidised rock at 57.35 m, 62.50 - 63.0 m and 63.65 – 63.85 m, 88.0-88.60 m and 91.65 m depth, along the borehole. Native copper has been reported for the first time from Alwar Basin of the North Delhi Fold Belt. 5. In the west of Nanagwas area, Sikar district, Rajasthan, sulphide mineralisation has been intersected in the two boreholes drilled so far, in the southern mineralised zone MZ-II. The i sixth borehole WNBH-6 intersected 34.10 m cumulative thick significant copper mineralization with 0.1% to 0.2% Cu (V.E.). The seventh borehole WNBH-7 intersected 9.60m cumulative thick significant copper mineralization with 0.1% to 0.2% Cu (V.E.). 6. In the Rampuriya –Gadariyakhera the chemical analysis of samples from BH No. RGD-2 drilled during the F.S. 2012-13, show three zones of mineralization for Pb, Zn, and Ag from depth of 48.0m to 54.0m (Pb & Zn-3.02%, Ag 12ppm and Cd 74ppm) from depth of 100.0m to 102.0m (Pb & Zn-2.12) and from depth of 125.0m to 127.0m (Pb & Zn-2.13%). The maximum value for Zn is 6.5%, Pb is 1.74%, Ag is 30ppm and Cd is 210ppm. 7. Interaction is going on with the Project Authorities regarding the sponsored projects of Engineering Geology, and the programmes are being executed after signing of MOU and receipt of full advance amount. 8. Uploading of post-2004 unpublished reports - 445 reports (upto FS 2008-09) and all 60 reports of FS 2009-10 & 2010-12 have been uploaded. Keying in of the pre-2004 reports is in progress through outsourcing and 2388 reports have been keyed in. Metadata of 4606 reports have been uploaded since inception. 9. Analysis of NGCM samples up to FS 2010-12 for all the Packages (Package A to Package H) has been completed. Out of a total of 4870 samples received for the Field Seasons 2012-13, analyses have been completed for Package A (XRF); 1079 for Package B; 708 for Package C; 1044 for Package E; 1109 for Package F; 449 for Package G; 534 and for Package H; (ICPMS) 961. 10.
