FC Cincinnati will be the final team to visit TD Place this season on a special Fan Appreciation Day where the club will set a new attendance record – eclipsing the 100,000 mark for the first time in club history. On the field, Fury players will be looking to get past the disappointment of missing out of the playoffs. In what was a tight battle for the final few spots, Fury fought hard but the sequence of tied matches towards the end proved to be too costly. In the last seven matches, Fury ended up sharing points in six of them. Ottawa’s 13 draws this season are the most in the entire USL. Fury will be keen to win their last two matches and finish their first season in the USL on a high note. With just three points separating Fury in 13th place from Harrisburg City Islanders in 10th place, grabbing a top-10 finish in the Eastern Conference is still a possibility. Ottawa’s leading striker Steevan Dos Santos broke Tom Heinemann’s club record for most goals in a season, with his strike against Charleston Battery. He has scored nine goals so far this season and has scored 11 goals in all competition. If this hulking adds one more tally, he will join Carl Haworth in second place in the club’s all-time scoring list. Heinemann leads that list with 18. Cincinnati are currently sixth in the standings and will look for a win against Fury to strengthen their playoffs situation. The visitors will draw inspiration from the last meeting between these two sides. It was Cincinnati’s 3-1 win over Fury then that re-ignited their playoffs chances after they had suffered huge back-to-back losses (5-0 Louisville, 4-0 New York). With just four points separating fifth place Rochester from ninth place Bethlehem, Cincinnati cannot take anything for granted. After this Sunday’s contest, Fury will close out the season against in Pittsburgh against the Riverhounds on October 14. WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: GM and Head Coach, Julian de Guzman: “We approach this game no differently. We’re looking to win and the fans deserve to see a team out there not just do well, but getting the winning result. We’ve got to be switched on and stay switched on until the end of the season. Ending the season on a positive note is important to this team.” “Winning at TD Place ranks among some of the best moments of my career. I’ve seen this fan base grow their support has always been great.
