International e-Conference on “Innovation in Pharmacy and Green

Chemistry during Post Covid-19 Era”

11th - 13th June, 2020

Organized By:

Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology & Chemistry, JIS University, 81, Nilgunj Road, , , - 700109 Website: www.jisuniversity.ac.in

About JIS University:

 JIS University was established through the Legislative Act of the Government of West Bengal that came into force in February, 2015. JIS University is the brainchild of the visionaries of JIS Group Educational Initiatives - the largest educational conglomerate of Eastern India with 30 Institutions, 140 programs and 37,000+ students. The JIS group educational institutes journey began 18 years ago, though not easy, has been quite a successful one.  The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology of JIS University started functioning in 2016 with Bachelor in Pharmacy, with prior approval from Pharmacy Council of India. Consequently, affiliation from AICTE was obtained for Pharmacy program. Currently we offer D. Pharm., B. Pharm., M. Pharm. (Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology), and PhD in Pharmacy; BMLT and certificate courses in Pharmacovigilance, Yoga and Naturopathy. The department is equipped with latest analytical instruments like Heidolph rotary evaporator, Multi station dissolution apparatus, Shimadzu UV spectrophotometer, Bruker FTIR, Agilent HPLC, Eppendorf deep freezer amongst a very few. They have immense research focus on recent drug delivery system, herbal drug development, process development techniques and drug analysis using spectrophotometric approach.  The Department of Biotechnology offers courses such as Bachelor, Master’s and Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Microbiology. The department nurtures the curious and inventive scholars such that they are able to face global challenges in academia and industry. The current research areas of the department includes nano-enzymology, microbial biotechnology, downstream processing, biomass based biofuel, cancer biology, evaluation of signaling pathways and novel targets responsible for oncogenesis, systemic circuit design and host engineering, transcriptomics and metabolomics, flux balance analysis, SRN proteomics, molecular parasitology etc.  The Department of Chemistry started its journey since inception of this University. The department offers Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Science. The current thrust areas of research include polymer chemistry, materials chemistry, organic synthesis, green chemistry, and co- ordination chemistry.

About the Conference:

 Innovation is a key word throughout the pharmaceutical industry and the healthcare community and its pursuit is a business imperative for Pharma world. To produce the next generation of innovative medical therapies, the pharma world urgently needs better, faster and cheaper drug discovery and development processes. Advances in healthcare technology have led to significant improvements in the quality of healthcare, in population health and, in parallel, have contributed to increases in real health expenditure in most industrialized countries over the recent decades. The pharmaceutical sector is of particular interest as it constitutes a market characterized by rapid technological change and high expenditure growth rates.  Green chemistry, also called sustainable chemistry, is an area of chemistry and chemical engineering focused on the designing of products and processes that minimize or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances.  While environmental chemistry focuses on the effects of polluting chemicals on nature, green chemistry focuses on the environmental impact of chemistry, including reducing consumption of nonrenewable resources and technological approaches for preventing pollution. Attempts are being made not only to quantify the greenness of a chemical process but also to factor in other variables such as chemical yield, the price of reaction components, safety in handling chemicals, hardware demands, energy profile and ease of product workup and purification. This is exactly where innovation towards better health services comes into being.  The major objective of the conference includes:  To make an "industry-scientists-academics" collaboration to meet the major challenges of innovation in Pharmacy and Green Chemistry towards better health services,  Familiarize with modern trends and challenges of healthcare community,  Provide a platform for discussion on challenges faced by the pharmaceutical industry and to emerge out with feasible solution,  Present the world with the frontiers of drug innovation & research in Biotechnology, Pharmacy and Green chemistry from bench side to the clinic.

Eligibility to attend the Conference: All students from Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Chemistry and allied sciences or Research Scholars, Faculty of any relevant fields as well as professionals from industries.
