1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:

ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR 2009-10: The College has tried its best to chalk out programmes aimed at achieving the goals and objectives of the institution. Priority has been given to the fundamental objectives, such as, A. Education for the socially and economically backward classes. . Students belong to backward classes are admitted giving various concessions in fees as per Govt rules.

B. Emphasis has been given to the maintenance and improvement of quality in higher education. . The construction of the science block approved by the government is expected to begin soon. . The government sanctioned Rs.3 lakhs for the development of library and purchase of lab equipment Rs. 20,000/- for conducting study tours, Rs.1.5 lakhs for minor works, Rs. 40,000/- for student amenities, Rs.100500/- for the purchase of almirahs and furniture and Rs. 50,000/- for IT grid. . A Canteen building could be constructed. . With the introduction of the credit cum semester system for the UG coursers a shift from teacher –centred to student-oriented methods could be implemented. . The library has been updated by adding new books..

Three NSS Units are functioning at the College .These units jointly organised a seven day special camp near Cheruvanath Meethal Colony, Muchukunnu. Construction of Muchukunnu Akalapuzha road and latrines for four poor families were some of the most remarkable services rendered through the Camp. 1. To conduct a seminar on ‘Material Research –Techniques and Methods’. The purpose of the seminar is to make the UG students of the college aware of the modern research methods in Experimental Physics with special emphasis on Material Science and to motivate them to take up scientific research as a career after post-graduation. 2. To publish a science magazine with articles contributed by the B.Sc. students of the College. Emphasis will be given to original science articles and science- related fiction and poems. NSS Units

1. To observe the Blood Donors’ Day (June 14) and constitute a Red Ribbon Club. 2. To beautify the college campus. 3. To arrange a legal literacy class for the second year UG students.

Entrepreneurship Club

1. To conduct a seminar on Entrepreneurship. 2. To conduct a quiz competition. 3. To give training to the students in various craft works.

Womens’Cell.

1. To conduct a talk on women’s Health. 2. To conduct an essay competition on a relevant topic. 3. To conduct a workshop related skills like knitting, stitching, fabric painting etc. 4. To organize an open house discussion on Women’s Empowerment.

FILM CLUB

1. To conduct a film festival in which films that promotes human values – are proposed to be exhibited. 2 .To conduct cultural programmes, debates and discussions.

Research Consultancy and Extension Services: 1. To provide housing aid to a selected poor family belonging to Muchukunnu( the village where the college is situated) 2. To lease a nearby paddy filed and cultivate paddy. 3. To conduct a blood grouping camp and prepare a blood group directory. 4. To conduct the seven–day special camp for the NSS volunteers. Infrastructure and learning resources: 1. Efforts are made to purchase a second hand bus with the financial aid from the MLA fund. The bus will be used as a conveyance for the students from the national highway to the College. 2. To try for providing an additional source of water with the financial support of the CDC. 3. To arrange a smart class room with the financial aid from the Govt.of Kerala. 4. To construct a basket ball ground utilizing the plan fund provided by the Government of Kerala. 5. To provide internet and LAN connections to all the departments. Student Support and Progression 1. The Commerce department proposes to organize coaching class for the PG students so as to help them in preparing for the NET examination. 2. The department will give proper guidance to the UG and PG students in the preparation for competitive examinations. Organisation and Management All the possible facilities will be provided in the college office so as to make the administrative work more effective.
