INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT/BACKGROUND INFORMATION 2.1 Identification of Project and Project Proponent Application of mining for soil used in Brick kiln of Brick Earth Mining project- M/s Chaudhary Brick Field from 224, Area- 3.705 Hectare (9.15 Acre) at Village – Parsohiya, Tappa- Dhebarua, Tehsil- Shohratgarh, District- Siddharth Nagar, Uttar Pradesh of Sri Izhar Ahmad S/o Sri Yaar Mohammad R/o Village – Teuwa Grant, Tehsil- Itwa, District- Siddharth Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. 2.2 Brief description of the nature of the project Brick kiln are seasonal unit are either in small sector or in cottage sector. Clay brick industry in India uses soil as raw material and slack (small size) coal as fuel. Estimate of total mineable reserve quantity comes to be 44936 Cum up to permissible depth of 1.5 m. As per Brick Kiln capacity yearly production of bricks are 27.5 Lac bricks/ season for that the required volume of brick clay will be 8258 cum/Annum. 2.3 Need for the project and its importance to the country and region The production of Brick Earth will benefit to the state in the form of royalty. Apart from this project operation will provide employment directly and indirectly to the people residing in vicinity, thus improving the Socio-economic status of the area. 2.4 Demands-Supply Gap Bricks are produced in India in small or cottage scale brick kilns and Clamps, operates seasonally. The raw materials in the brick kilns include soil, coal, paddy husk, wood & locally available agro wastes to some extent. There are large variations in quality of soils available in different parts of the country and also in brick manufacturing process. Brick are good building material for construction activities but quality of brick differs place to place. • Towns of India: Status of Demography, Economy, Social Structures, Housing and Basic Infrastructure
Towns of India Status of Demography, Economy, Social Structures, Housing and Basic Infrastructure HSMI – HUDCO Chair – NIUA Collaborative Research 2016 Towns of India Status of Demography, Economy, Social Structures, Housing and Basic Infrastructure HSMI – HUDCO Chair – NIUA Collaborative Research 2016 Foreword An increasing number of people live in small and medium-sized towns in the periphery of large cities as the world completes its process of urban transition. India is no exception to this phenomenon. It is in these towns where national economies are to be built, solutions to global challenges such as inequality and the impacts of climate change are to be addressed, and future generations are to be educated. The reality in India, however, suggests that the small towns are not fully integrated in the urban fabric of the nation. They have enormous backlogs in economic infrastructure, weak human capacity, high levels of under unemployment and unemployment, and extremely weak local economies. However, with their growing numbers – there are more than 2,500 new towns added in the last Population Census– the role of small and medium-sized towns in the national economy will have a significant influence upon the future social and economic development of larger geographic regions. If these towns were better equipped to steer their economic assets and development, the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) could be increased, with significant benefits reducing rural poverty in the hinterlands. This research on small towns, those below 100,000 population, was conducted at the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), New Delhi, under Phase III of the HUDCO Chair project during the period 2015-16.
