* Full-time study. * The normal duration is 3 years, with the maximum of 5 years. The total required time for curriculum study and doing research in the school shall not be less than one and a half years.

III. Applicant Qualifications 1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passports, and should be good in physical and mental health and shall abide by the laws and regulations of China and the rules of school. 2. Applicants should hold Master’s degree or above, and should be under the age of 40. 3. Applicants should meet the requirements for admission in academic performance, academic ability and other qualifications. Applicants should also be proficient in Chinese or English, and can use Chinese or English for communication, course study, subject research and dissertation writing. 4. Preferential admission conditions （1）Priority may be given to those who have IELTS score of 6.5 with no section score below 6.5, or minimum TOEFL score of 90. （2）Priority may be given to those who have published in SCI indexed journals during their postgraduate study. If the applicants are second authors, then their supervisors should be first authors. （3）Applying for the program of Computer Science and Technology requires Advanced Mathematics and Programming Language Grade B or above.

Scan copy of Passport √ Photo（within six months） √ Masters Degree and Transcripts √ Two Letters of Recommendation (Signed by professors or associated professors in √ Chinese or English with the name of the referral and contact information. ) One Piece of Personal Statement (Around 1500 words √ in Chinese or English, and should include: the intended major and supervisor, personal experience of study and work, academic research results etc.) In addition to the application materials detailed above, applicants should submit other supplementary materials in time to the requirements of SZU. * If the original version of the above documents is not in Chinese or English, notarized translated version in Chinese or English must also be attached.

V. Admission Procedure 1. After the application deadline, SZU will organize a panel of experts to review the application documents. SZU will admit Doctoral applicants based on the overall assessment of theirs scores and all other supporting documents. During the process, long-distance or face-to-face interviews will be conducted, if necessary. 2. In June, 2019, pre-admission results will be sent to applicants by email. 3. In July, 2019, after confirmation of the list of admitted applicants, admission materials will be posted to applicants according to the address provided online by the applicants. 4. Students who are accepted should apply for the X1 visa at their country’s Chinese Embassy (or Chinese Consulate) with “Shenzhen University Admission Notice” and “Visa Application for Study in China(JW202)”, and change X1 visa into a Residence permit for foreign students within 30 days after entering China. Students who don’t apply for the relevant visa and residence permit will have to drop out. SZU doesn’t accept students with non-student visas. 5. Students who are accepted must register at the date and the address according to “Shenzhen University Admission Notice”. Registration in advance will not be accepted.

VII. Scholarship and Grants Categories Scholarship Description University scholarship is used to pay tuition fees. Economic Theory: 34,000 RMB/person/academic year; University Scholarship Optical Engineering, Information and Communication

Engineering: 40,000 RMB/person/ academic year; Biomedical Engineering: 52,000 RMB/person/year. SZU will provide a basic stipend of 40,000RMB per year Basic Grants which will be offered by twelve months. Supervisors will provide a certain amount of allowance for Research allowance from doctoral students each year as research subsidies or supervisors academic exchange subsidies

Students can have preferential treatment such as scholarships, grants fees for the first extended year of study. Such preferential treatment is not available from the second extended year of study.
