In 2008, the Falcons topped the Indians 14-7 at Shuford Stadium to snap the Indians’ 13-game win streak in home openers. They became the fi rst CIAA team to defeat the Indians. The Falcons won again in 2010 behind two touchdown passes by Joaquin Green and a defense which HEAD COACHES held fi rm late. It all added up to a victory for the Falcons in their season opener. Walter Saint Augustine’s College: Sanders clinched the big win with a 23-yard scoring run on fourth down and inches. The 2003 and 2005 CIAA football coach of Conference: Central Intercollegiate Athletic the year, Costa is an energetic leader who instills discipline and intensity in his players. Web Site: MANNING WINS CIAA WEEKLY DEFENSIVE HONOR www.saintaugfalcons.com Junior Derrick Manning (Waldolf, Md.) of Saint Augustine’s College earned CIAA defensive back of the week honors Monday (Aug. 29) after recording 11 total tackles FOOTBALL HISTORY against Virginia Union over the weekend. This is the fi rst CIAA weekly honor for First Year of Football: 1934 (CIAA) Manning, who tied for the most tackles in the football contest. Two of his tackles were Overall All-Time Record: 132-124-8 behind the line of scrimmage. The league’s football coaches and sports information directors voted on the squad. This is the second SPORTS INFORMATION preseason honor this year for Laughinghouse, a rising junior from Greenville, N.C.
