COL-TEN College Tennis Placement Services Web: Email: Team@Col-Ten.Com COL-TEN College Tennis Placement Services Web: www.col-ten.com, email: [email protected] PLAYER PROFILE Name: Riccardo Di Nocera Training Location: Napoli, Italy Age: 20 Date of Birth: 11/05/2000 Graduated school: July 2018 Height / Weight: 180cm/69kg Plays: Right-handed UTR Singles Current: 12.99 ATP Singles Current: #1634 ATP Singles Best: #1530 ATP Double Current: #1355 ATP Double Best: #1208 National Ranking: 2.3 NCAA Eligibility ID: TBC GPA High School: 3.6 ACT/SAT: TBA TOEFL: TBA Target Degree: Sports Science / Management Budget: Up to $5k per year Parents: Rossana & Enzo INTRODUCTION We are pleased to recommend Riccardo Di Nocera for consideration in your Program, for an August 2021 start date. Riccardo had a brilliant junior tennis career and trained at the Italian Federation National Center in BARI from 2015 to 2018 coached by Giancarlo Petrazzuolo (former coach of Simone Bolelli). He also represented Italy in National Teams Competitions from U12 to the European Championships U16. Riccardo achieved a Top 200 ITF Junior Ranking, and then got his first ATP Point in 2019 in Santa Margherita di Pula (ITA) winning against D. Nicolae Maderas (ATP #500). For the last 3 years Riccardo has trained at the Accademia Tennis Napoli with Coach Cannavacciuolo Antonio. Riccardo has a current UTR of 12.99, but he also reached a highest UTR of 13.24 in February 2021. Riccardo is very ambitious about his tennis and his main goal is to make a professional career. His style of play is a counter puncher, who has had his best results on slower courts (clay) even though his playing style better suits fast surfaces. Riccardo has a really good technical basis which needs to be converted into the right game-style. Academically Riccardo is a strong student, with a 3.6 GPA in High School and he is currently achieving good grades in University (please see below the paragraph about academic information). At Col-Ten, we believe American College is the right environment for Riccardo as a springboard to continue to follow his professional tennis dreams. We hope Riccardo is of interest to you and look forward to introducing you in due course. It was love at first sight. Once I started I didn’t want to stop anymore. My first coach was Alberto Sbrescia. One of the best coaches I’ve ever know. If I’m here writing this, I have to thank him. I played all the Italian national championship and my best results were 2 semi-finals in singles and 3 doubles championships. When I was 14 the Italian Federation called me to join them in a national center located in Bari. There my coaches were Nicola Fantone and Giancarlo Petrazzuolo (Simone Bolelli’s coach). In this time I had the chance and the honor to play for my nation, playing summer and winter cup and European championships. I also played ITF juniors where I reached the top 200. Today, on the ATP tour I’m ranked 1600 (2 points). Tennis has given so much to me. I spent all my life playing and watching tennis and for sure I won’t stop. I sacrificed like all players who are trying to get their best in this sport, time with friends with family but I can say that it’s worth it. I mean I love my family, my city, my friends but there are necessary sacrifices to try to reach great goals. I continue to dedicate my time for tennis training and tournaments while I’m doing my 2nd year of university (physical science). I know how tough it is to play and study at the same time, but I also know that nobody can play forever so it will be a great opportunity playing high level while creating a future with an excellent degree. Obviously, I would like to try to become a professional player after my studies, I mean everyone dreams one day to play a Grand Slam and to travel the world playing tennis. But everyone also knows how hard it is. And I think that the College Spirit gives you the chance to develop your tennis, your physique and your person in an environment where the team pushes you through, and this is very exciting for me.
