The autonomous vehicle is a game changer, not least because the traditional differences between the various modes of transport become indistinct as an autonomous vehicle can be everything, in principle: a private car, a taxi, a bus, a car-sharing vehicle or a shared taxi. Thank you Helen for some memorable talks. I often wish you were here in the winter to liven up the next few months. I really enjoyed the auction, and although there were only seven of us there, plus a puppy, it turned out to be enormous fun. I think we all came away with items we had not planned on buying, which is what very often happens in auctions. Introduction Cambridge has a vibrant, expanding economy. The University, and the high-tech businesses and spin-offs which surround it, combine to make the city-region one of the UK’s top growth hot-spots and one of the greatest entrepreneurial clusters outside Silicon Valley. This climate of economic success has created great pressure on the Local Authorities to provide more high quality residential and working space in and around the city. But, in a crowded space that already experiences acute congestion problems, this poses serious challenges for the city’s transport planners. Shaping the way we live, work, and play, DVRPC builds consensus on improving transportation, promoting smart growth, protecting the environment, and enhancing the economy. We serve a diverse region of nine counties: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania; and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer in New Jersey. DVRPC is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Greater Philadelphia Region — leading the way to a better future. The symbol in our logo is adapted from the official DVRPC seal and is designed as a stylized image of the Delaware Valley. The outer ring symbolizes the region as a whole while the diagonal bar signifies the Delaware River. The two adjoining crescents represent the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey. DVRPC is funded by a variety of funding sources including federal grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the Pennsylvania and New Jersey departments of transportation, as well as by DVRPC’s state and local member governments.
