2 CARD READER HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

CONNECTING YOUR CARD READER 1. Turn on your computer. 2. Insert the USB connector from the reader into the USB port of your PC.

3. If your system has not seen the USB device before you will need to follow the instructions for the software installation below.

WINDOWS 98 SOFTWARE INSTALLATION Close any applications you may have running before installing the Card Reader software drivers. 1. Ensure you have followed the hardware installation as above. 2. The Windows 98 dialog box “New hardware found” should now appear on your screen. 3. This will invoke the “Add new hardware” wizard.

4. Click on the “next” button. 5. The question will appear “What do you want to do?”, select the option “search for the best driver for your device”. 6. Click on the “next” button. 7. Insert the Card Reader Installation CD. 8. Check the box marked “specify a location”, uncheck any other options. 9. Use the browse button to direct the wizard to the installer for your product. 10. Follow the on-screen instructions.

4 CARD READER FORMATTING YOUR MEDIA CARD

Most cards are pre-formatted, so formatting may result in your device not being able to recognise the media, so it is best to use your device to format the card. When using the Card Reader for exchanging data between desktop and notebook computers, formatting may be necessary. To format media in the Card Reader, use the following steps.

1. Double click on the MY COMPUTER icon.

2. Place your mouse over the REMOVABLE MEDIA icon and right click. 3. Chose FORMAT and the following box will appear.

4. From the dialogue box select QUICK (ERASE) and press START.

After formatting the card will be ready for use.
