SUSAN HUNTER AWARD The Susan Hunter Award is presented by the Halifax Jazz Festival’s Board of Directors to recognize a proven leader in the Halifax Arts community to an individual demonstrating leadership, creativity, and passion. This year we are thrilled to honour Jerry Granelli.

While Jerry may be widely known for performing with Jazz greats throughout North America, including Vince Guaraldi and Bill Evans, he is best known in Halifax for his impact on the local music scene as a co founder of the Atlantic Jazz Festival (with award namesake Susan Hunter), and for developing an educational component to the Festival, in the form of the “Creative Music Follow your passion. Find your career. Workshop.”

From his local, live performances of “A Charlie Brown dal.ca/performingarts Christmas” to his continued work as a performer, educator, and mentor, Jerry is an innovator and leader the Halifax Jazz Festival is proud to call a friend.
