GLOBAL NAMES BEN WEISS GENERAL MANAGER OF DONALD L. TUCKER CIVIC CENTER

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Global Spectrum, operators of the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center at Florida State University, today named Ben Weiss as the facility’s new General Manager. Most recently Weiss served as the General Manager of the Memphis Redbirds at Auto Zone Park, a 14,000 seat stadium located in Memphis, TN. With him, Ben brings to the Tucker Civic Center over 13 years’ experience with Global Spectrum.

“As General Manager, Ben brings with him vital experience, leadership, enthusiasm, and an operational approach that is sure to enhance the Tucker Civic Center and its staff,” said Global Spectrum’s Regional Vice President Doug Higgons.

Weiss, a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, began his career with Global Spectrum’s parent company, Comcast-Spectacor, in 2001 working for the Charge of the Women’s United Soccer Association. Following one season with the Charge and subsequently one season with the Philadelphia Kixx, of the Major League, Ben was promoted to Group Sales Account Executive at the Wells Fargo Center and Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2004, Weiss moved into the Event Manager role for Global Spectrum at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ where he later was promoted to Assistant General Manager. In 2007 he made the move to Massachusetts to become General Manager of the Mullins Center located on the campus of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. Weiss was instrumental in bringing to Amherst two of the country’s largest touring shows and booking the highest grossing show in the arena’s history. In 2009 Weiss began oversight of both the Memphis Redbirds Triple-A franchise and the 14,000 seat AutoZone Park in Memphis, Tennessee. During his time in Memphis Weiss successfully lead a turnaround effort and annually grew the business through the 2013 season. In 2014 Weiss was active in the sale of the franchise to the St. Louis Cardinals and the purchase of AutoZone Park by the City of Memphis. Some of Weiss’s most notable accomplishments include being named by Billboard Magazine as one of the industry’s “Top 30 Under 30” in 2007, and most recently being named the ‘Pacific Coast League Executive of the Year.’

I look forward to building on the recent successes of the facility and fully integrating myself into Florida State University and the Tallahassee community,” said Weiss.
