The zoo is a big comprehensive zoo located in undulating hills and beautifully landscaped. There are over 200 different species of wild animals and it is also a conservation and breeding base for giant pandas, lesser red pandas, southern Chinese tigers, and other endangered animals. There are newly built enclosures for antelopes, elephants, giraffes, orangutans, and birds. The area also has miniature gardens, and teahouses so you sit and relax. In addition, it has a children's amusement park with a skating rink, open-air stage, reading rooms, and restaurants. 10:30-12:00. Next the tour goes to Ciqikou, the old town. Ciqikou lies on the southern bank of the Jialing River in the Shapingba district. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, Ciqikou has been noted for its traditional houses and streets. Here you can enjoy wandering down old laneways amongst traditional buildings of the Ming and Qing style. There are numerous small shops to buy souvenirs to home, as well as lots of places to try local foods and snacks. 12:00-12:30. A quick and refreshing lunch of Chinese or western style 13:40-14:40. After lunch we head back into the city to visit the Three Gorges' Museum. This is a class A museum at the national level that was jointly built by central and local governments. It is a demonstration base for national patriotic education, education for teenagers, as well as science popularization.

The cone karst (fengcong) and tower karst (fenglin) developed in the humid climate in southern China form the most distinctive karst landscapes. Tiankengs are giant dolines that are a feature in some areas of the cone karst. In recent years, more than fifty tiankengs have been discovered in the cone karst in southern China, notably in the provinces of Chongqing, Guangxi, Sichuan and Guizhou. Current research indicates that tiankengs develop in specific environments of geomorphology, geology and hydrogeology, and are therefore distinguished from normal karst dolines. COUNTRY China NAME South China Karst NATURAL WORLD HERITAGE SERIAL SITE 2007: Inscribed on the World Heritage List under Natural Criteria vii and viii. STATEMENT OF OUTSTANDING UNIVERSAL VALUE The UNESCO World Heritage Committee issued the following statement at the time of inscription. South China is unrivalled for the diversity of its karst features and landscapes. The property includes specifically selected areas that are of outstanding universal value to protect and present the best examples of these karst features and landscapes. South China Karst is a coherent serial property comprising three clusters, Libo Karst and Shilin Karst, each with two components, and Wulong Karst with three components. Criterion (vii): South China Karst represents one of the world's most spectacular examples of humid tropical to subtropical karst landscapes. The stone forests of Shilin are considered superlative natural phenomena and the world reference site for this type of feature. The cluster includes the Naigu stone forest occurring on dolomitic limestone and the Suyishan stone forest arising from a lake. Shilin contains a wider range of pinnacle shapes than other karst landscapes with pinnacles, and a higher diversity of shapes and colours that change with different weather and light conditions. The cone and tower karsts of Libo, also considered the world reference site for these types of karsts, form a distinctive and beautiful landscape.

ASIA / PACIFIC SOUTH CHINA KARST CHINA WORLD HERITAGE NOMINATION – IUCN TECHNICAL EVALUATION SOUTH CHINA KARST (CHINA) – ID No. 1248 Background note: The IUCN Technical Evaluation of the Lunan Scenic Area of the Stone Forest, nominated by China as a natural property in 1991, and now part of one of the three components of the current serial nomination (Shilin Karst), was not discussed at the 16th session of the World Heritage Committee (Santa Fe, 1992) because the State Party had requested that this nomination not be examined. IUCN’s evaluation noted a number of deficiencies in the nomination including the lack of comparative analysis and demonstration of the outstanding universal value of the site. The State Party submitted on 16 January 2006 the current serial nomination of three clusters as Phase 1 (with two more to come) which is the subject of this evaluation. 1. DOCUMENTATION i) Date nomination received by IUCN: April 2006 ii) Dates on which any additional information was officially requested from and provided by the State Party: IUCN requested supplementary information on 18 August 2006 before the IUCN Evaluation Mission. Currently, the airport contains three terminals, International T1, Domestic T2, and Domestic T3. Airport Transportation There is no direct shuttle bus to Beibei. You can go to Beibei by taxi or by subway. In day time, the flat-rate fare of taxis in this city is about CNY10 for the first 1.9 miles (3km) and then the distance surcharge is CNY2 per 0.6 mile (1km). It costs passengers CNY 100 or so from the airport to Bebei. Local subway Line 3 and Line 10 have Jiangbei Airport Stations in the airport. The entrances/exits of line 3 can be found in T2. This line serves from 06:30 to 22:30 from the airport. Transfer to Line 6 at Hongqihegou station. Get off at Zhuangyuanbei station. The entrances/exits of line 10 are located at T2 and T3.
