INTRODUCTION OF KAASH FOUNDATION

KAASH FOUNDATION is a Mumbai based registered charitable trust dedicated to the area of E2H2 (Education, Environment, Health and Heritage). The foundation selflessly renders its service for the upliftment and betterment of the society. The soul of KAASH is their enthusiastic team which focuses on the multi-dimensional progress of the Foundation. KAASH organises various events like exhibitions, conferences and symposiums, which not only enlighten but also provoke individuals to think and comprehend vividly in terms of Environment, Education, Health and Heritage. In short, KAASH Foundation is a sincere initiative to conserve and preserve our society, health and mind. Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. These are the words of Nelson Mandela, an idealistic personality. KAASH Foundation is an initiative that takes responsibility to sharpen this powerful weapon called Education. We strive to explore different arenas of knowledge in terms of encouraging students to think and work beyond limits and boundaries. KAASH aims at the holistic development of educating the young minds of the society. It is rightly said, Education breeds Confidence, Confidence breeds Hope and Hope breeds Peace. This is the ultimate aim of KAASH Foundation with respect to education. It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the world in which we all live.

These words of The Dalai Lama generates in us, a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Environment is the second area focused by KAASH Foundation. The trees, the plants, the flowers, the forest and each element of the environment should be conserved and protected. It is rightly said by Margaret Mead, ‘We won’t have society if we destroy the environment’. Going by this belief, Kaash Foundation strives to raise its voice against the injustice towards nature and also to protect the society. One such incident was the Foundation’s involvement in the Save Aarey Movement. The environment in which we live is not yours, nor mine; it’s ours. So let’s protect our mother nature who nourishes us. It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. These words of Mahatma Gandhi state the importance of health. Health is the third area focused by KAASH Foundation. It is rightly emphasized, ‘The mind and body are not separate, what affects one will affect the other’. Our conversations on health should not only be confined to physical health, but also, include mental health. By thrusting ourselves on this belief, Kaash Foundation organises various events, awareness programmes and medical camps to achieve our goal based on the axiom, ‘The body achieves that, which the mind believes’. The heritage of the past is the seed that brings forth the harvest of the future. These words of Wendell Phillips help us to understand the importance of Heritage. Heritage is the fourth area focused by KAASH Foundation. As we water the seeds to grow into a tree; we should preserve our heritage in order to relish our glorious past. KAASH

The 2nd International Symposium was one of its own kinds, addressing four pivotal topics: Concerns, Complexities, Dialogues and Religious Philosophy. History stands witness to the fact that when civilizations and people interact, there is an amalgamation of thoughts and philosophies; and at the same time disparity takes root which brings people together and contradictorily distances them. With the growing inter-connectedness of the world, one can truly witness the transformation of the whole

world into a global village. Along with this coming together of the world, many concerns and complexities arise.

Concerns arise when there is diversity, inequality and when we analyse the colonial and post-colonial phases and where we stand. Nevertheless, concern is also an important aspect of the modern life. It is when we are concerned about others, that we have hope in times of uncertainties.

Leaving behind simplicity, man has entered a sphere of Complexity in search of happiness. It is an unavoidable fact that the complex nature of the world is unavoidable and its influence can be felt in all walks of human life. Dialogue is non-confrontational; it is a communication tool that allows people to understand other viewpoints without pitting themselves against different perspectives. In dialogue, one listens to understand and not to defend their point of view. The goal is to understand the perspective of the speaker, not to prove they are wrong. Dialogue is not a back and forth discussion, nor a debate or a rebuttal. It’s a chance to frame a problem collectively by independently voicing your perspectives on an issue. One of the purposes of religion is for people to realize the meaning of life and also to bring people closer. Various religious schools emphasise on the importance of practicing virtues and upholding the norms of sustainable existence. However, in the process of binding people together, religion has also created various strata and disparity among them. In today's world, it is imperative that we focus on the power of religion that unites, and not divides us. The Symposium covered philosophical perspectives and approaches in various religious schools of thought viz. Buddhism, Islam, Jainism, Sikhism, Hinduism and Christianity. The inter-section and inter-faith

dimension was the core area of the lucid presentations. The Symposium achieved its aim to integrate and channelize the humanistic approach in each section and elaborate on the arena of human values.

An extensive and dedicated team which comprised of various groups viz. the Social Media Team, the team who handled the technical aspects, the team who handled the forms and certifications; the enthusiastic and scholarly panel along with the assiduous leadership of Dr. Jadhav, Founder - Trustee of KAASH Foundation, culminated in the marvellous success of the 2nd International Symposium on Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues in Religious Philosophy.

E-Proceeding of the 2nd International Symposium on Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues in Religious Philosophy, organised by Kaash Foundation on 12th May 2020.

After the great success of the 1st International Multidisciplinary Conference on Transition and Transformation: Cities in Life, Literature and Culture - Mumbai Chapter, organised by KAASH Foundation in collaboration with Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), Mumbai University on 17th and 18th February 2020, KAASH Foundation organised another venture on 12th May 2020. It was the 2nd International Symposium on Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues in Religious Philosophy in collaboration with Universitas Hindu, Indonesia, Archaeological Institute of Afghanistan, Kabul, Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi, Centre for Study of Society and Secularism, Mumbai and Eikam Resonance Foundation, Mumbai. The Symposium was a day long programme of presentations and interactive dialogues which brought together eight eminent scholars and stalwarts of various disciplines from across the world with an aim of creating an online open forum to discuss and amalgamate commonalities and disparities of various global interconnections through the theme of ‘religious philosophy’. The ultimate purpose of the Symposium was to put forth multiple perspectives regarding religious philosophy through the lens of three major components: Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues. The whole idea of the Symposium was to understand the truth that even though religious philosophies are many, but their goal is one: To Unite Mankind, which was also rightly said by Swami Vivekananda, By the study of different religions, we find that in essence they are one. The Symposium was initiated by Dr. Avkash Jadhav, Founder - Trustee of KAASH Foundation, with the introduction of the IJCCD (International Journal of Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues, as the 2nd International venture of the Kaash Foundation) Dr. Avkash

Jadhav warmly welcomed all the honourable resource persons and the viewers to the 2nd International Symposium. Introducing the theme of the Symposium, he spoke about how global interconnectedness has somewhere shaped us into a global village. He continued by addressing the present issue regarding religion. He was of the view that religion, which originated to bind us together, has eventually divided us into different stratas. Highlighting the need for us to study and deal about this issue, he then explained the three major components of the Symposium: Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues with respect to Religious Philosophy. Dr. Avkash said that Concerns come out when we have diversity, when we have inequality and when we analyse the colonial and the post-colonial phases. He further explained with a quote of The Dalai Lama,

A sense of concern for others gives our life meaning, it is the root of all human happiness. Then he moved to the second component: Complexities. Dr. Avkash said that we live in a complex world today, which comprises of social complexities, political complexities and various other complexities. But it is believed that a well informed person or a genius is the one who tries to come out of complexity and makes it simpler. Therefore, complexity as a phenomenon not only disturbs a fabric but also hampers the future. Then, Dr. Avkash Jadhav drew the viewers’ attention towards the third and the most significant component of the Symposium: Dialogues, which he began with a quote of Swami Vivekananda,

What is needed is the fellow feeling between the different types of religion, seeing that they all stand or fall together. A fellow feeling which brings from mutual esteem and mutual respect. And it is not something which comes from patronizing or forceful goodwill. It is something which we require in present time and in many.

Speaking about the non-confrontational nature of a dialogue, he emphasized on how we need not to confront but try to engage, how we should not converse to dispute but should converse to agree that at some point of time we may disagree but will mutually respect. Dr. Avkash Jadhav then quoted Voltaire, I may not agree with you but I will fight for your right to say it till the last breath of my life. And lastly he spoke about the phenomenon of Religious Philosophy by quoting Lord Francis Bacon and Emile Durkheim. A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism, but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion. - Lord Francis Bacon Religion exists only because it unites humans inter moral communities. It not only dictates actions but also ideas and sentiments. - Emile Durkheim After an elaborate introduction, Dr. Avkash Jadhav once again greeted all the dignitaries and viewers for the 2nd International Symposium organised by Kaash Foundation. He also cheered the viewers by saying that Knowledge speaks, but more important Wisdom listens.

bringing about the spread of Buddhist philosophy with a focus on the Srivijaya Empire – the 1st Buddhist Kingdom of Indonesia. The highlight of the talk was the Udayana Kingdom that was a major role player in stimulating the country of Indonesia to establish itself as a multilingual empire with a rich Classical Balinese history. He stressed on the prime role of Soekarno – a leader during the Dutch Colonial Era initiating the idea of a multi- cultural united society with the national motto of “Bhineka Tunggal Ikka tan Hana Dharma Mangrwa” thereby, leading to a well led conclusion of Indonesia as a country with immense religious tolerance and social harmony. Resource Person: Mr. Irfan Engineer Title of the Presentation: Islamic Ethics and Philosophy Mr. Irfan Engineer started his presentation with the opening statement of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, It is the approach to Unity in Diversity from Islamic point of view that being in all religions is same, but the shariya is different. The moral values are the same i.e. compassion, forgiveness, humanism and unity that unite us. Islam very firmly believes in humanism. Mr. Irfan stated that God from the time of Adam kept on sending prophets to people on earth to direct them on the way of righteousness as Islamic philosophy believes that the entire journey of life is to be on a righteous path. In every Nawaz, Muslims ask God to guide him on this path of righteousness and when he is misled on the paths of envy and greed, he asks God to guide him to come back to the right path. He mentioned a chapter of Quran where it is said that humans agree to keep trust on God and do the good deeds. Mr. Irfan emphasised that each one of us should have a good consciousness. Also, Mr. Irfan very well elaborated that human who come to God with a sound heart is not held accountable and instead, he prospers.

He concluded his paper by saying that God could have created one nation and one people, but he chose to create diversity in people on the basis of religion, culture and traditions so that people could compete with each other on the basis of good deeds and not fight on justifying who is right. Human race should live in harmony and maintain the unity. Justice is the message of The Quran. He validated his presentation by stating that this Symposium came up with new topics to be covered and he is also looking forward to continue these dialogues in future. He also said that every religion should struggle to find the truth and also struggle to end the suffering of humanity. He said that it's important that things are done in actions. And clear each religion’s perspective and theologies in mind. With this note, Mr. Irfan Engineer concluded his presentation.

After the presentation, Dr. Avkash Jadhav thanked Mr. Irfan Engineer for the way he explained the viewers about the ultimate aim of Islamic philosophy which is to move towards the righteous path. Then, Dr. Avkash Jadhav stated, There will be no peace among the nations, without peace among the religious and no peace amongst the religion without dialogue. With these words, he warmly welcomed the 3rd Resource Person of the Symposium Prof. Dr. Baidyanath Labh, Vice - Chancellor of Nav Nalanda Maha Vihar University, Bihar. Resource Person: Prof. Dr. Baidyanath Labh Title of the Presentation: Issue of Modern Crisis and Buddhism Prof. Dr. Baidyanath Labh began the talk by explaining the term Dharma. He said that Dharma is vast than religion. Buddhism has developed in culture. No one should be confined to a religion rather; they are a part of the whole humanity. Buddhism has developed cultural Bharat. Druveda forest is now known as Bodh Gaya. Well being of maximum people was the motto of Buddha. Innermost desire of Buddha was humanity. Humans are best creation of God. Dr. Baidyanath said that there is only one Almighty with different names: Brahma, Allah and Lord etc. A person cannot attain the supreme stage of spirituality unless and until he/she is concerned for the society. We need to work towards the common goal of all. Buddha's Middle Path gave people the hope where they could engage in the process of their own salvation. Origin of everyone comes from the same root. Let all the beings be happy and well. Treat all the people the way we treat ourselves. Pray for the world to be a better place to live in. Unfortunately, due to the technical glitches, Dr. Baidyanath Labh couldn’t complete his presentation.

Repeated efforts to get Dr. Baidyanath connected were unsuccessful. However, since the Symposium had to continue, Dr. Avkash Jadhav took over the session to thank and summarise the entire presentation of Dr. Baidyanath Labh for all the viewers.

Then, Dr. Avkash Jadhav quoted some beautiful words of Rabindranath Tagore, We try to realize the essential unity of the world with the conscious soul of man; we learn to perceive the unity held together by the one Eternal Spirit, whose power creates the earth, the sky, and the stars, and at the same time irradiates our mind. With these words he welcomed the 4th International Resource Person, Mr. Noor Agha Noori, who is an eminent archaeologist and the Director General of the Institute of Archaeology, Ministry of Culture, Kabul, Afghanistan.

E-Proceeding of the 2nd International Symposium on Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues in Religious Philosophy, organised by Kaash Foundation on 12th May 2020.

Mr. Noori began his presentation by addressing the current issue of the pandemic and also conveyed Wishes of Ramadan to everyone. Coming to the topic, he began by stating that The Right Path of Religion and Scriptures minimizes the complexities and concerns that arise. It also kindles respect within people, towards other people from different religions. He very rightfully said that a broader level of Thinking, Acceptance and Tolerance are necessary while addressing the issue of Religions. He said that the right path or perspective of many religions can be one. Once the right perspective of one religion is found, it can be co-related with the other religions too.

According to him, in order to understand the right perspective of the religion, one should understand the religion, observe the religion, pick out an example from its practices and co-relate it with the others as most good things are common in all the religions and then figure out the differences that exist. Mr. Noori, through a couple of examples which establish a connection between Islam, Buddhism and the other religions, stated how the common goals exist throughout all the religions. At the same time, he pointed out how Sharia laws are strict and aim at bringing about welfare of the Society. He said that Islam shows the way to implement goodness in society and life. An example given by him was: All the religions say that one should not rob. However, Islam shows a state in which people do not rob. Through the practice of Zakaat, poverty is eliminated and robbery or theft is prevented. Quran states that if a man or woman commits robbery then his or her hands should be cut. This is even implemented in Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia wherein the crime rate thus is very low as in the fear of punishment, a person thinks multiple times before committing a crime. The United States being one of the most advanced nations has the largest rate of crime and theft and it can be

reduced if laws like Sharia are implemented there. One more such example dealt with the treatment given to women. All the religions state that abusing or raping a woman is wrong but Islam creates a state where men will not abuse or rape any woman. Quran states that Women should lower their eyes, be in modesty and not display the beauty of the body except their eyes. The Hijab thus abides by these principles and protects the women from being ill treated. Mr. Noori also talked about Buddhism, its teachings and the way they establish a connection with the Islamic teachings and preaching. He explained The Eight Fold Path given by Buddha and the 3 main groups of Wisdom, Morality and Concentration. He concluded by stating that the beginning of each religion is right view. Worshippers from all the religions should respect one another.

As a concluding statement, Mr. Noori quoted, Worldwide Safety and Appreciation for Life can be achieved by following the Right Path of Religion. However, due to technical glitches Mr. Noor Agha Noori couldn’t conclude his presentation. Dr. Avkash Jadhav took over the session by highlighting certain important points from Mr. Noori's presentation and concluded the presentation. Then, Dr. Avkash Jadhav quoted some beautiful lines of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, I believe in the essential unity of all people and for that matter of all lives. Therefore, I believe that if one person gains spiritually, the whole world gains, and if one person falls, the whole world falls to that extent.

With this quote, he welcomed the 5th Resource Person, Dr. Kamini Gogri, to the 2nd International Symposium. Being associated with the Eikam Resonance Foundation, she heads the Research wing on Ancient Scripts and is extensively working on Jain scriptures.

Resource Person: Dr. Kamini Gogri Title of the Presentation: Emerging Questions: Revisiting Jain Way to Think Dr. Kamini Gogri unfolded the deliberation with the reference of the Dashahakaalik Shloka which means that the highest auspicious is Dharma (Non-violence, Restrain, Austerity) and the one who follows it, is totally accepted by the Almighty. The very fact proposed was that today, we humans have to restrain ourselves in the prevalent issues by observing Non-violence and practicing Austerity. The process of renunciation for self-exploration and self-identity was also brought out by the apt anecdote of Mahavira and Chandkaushik (a poisonous snake), reflecting the situational aspect of existence of people with negativity around us and how with compassion and

affection we can win over them rather than choosing the aggressive stand towards them without any self interest. Dr. Kamini presented the matter of fact that the relevance of these values will be realised by the one who wants to make it relevant and not to the one who thinks they are not relevant. This fact depends on how one looks at the past and interprets the future and thus, give meaning to life.

The discussion gave us the insight into the Jain religious principles of overcoming anger, ego, greed and deceit through extended friendliness, simplicity, practicing charity and becoming straightforward respectively. It also focuses on the thought of inclusion by the concept of Vishwabandhutva or Universal Brotherhood and Vatsalya or Compassion which can be achieved by practice. The three Jewels of Jainism i.e. Right Faith, Right Knowledge and Right Character are supposed to be the ingredients to have an appropriate mind-set, eventually bringing in the capacity of objective thinking, accepting things and finding appropriate solutions to overcome the crisis. This results out of fully aware state of mind. Human existence is the make up of Body/ biology, Feeling, Thinking, Morality and Creativity. Morality as a factor can be achieved through Five Vows, namely, Non-violence, truth, non-stealing, following celibacy, and non-possessions which are directly related to facing of practical difficulties. Here the deliberation focused on the challenges & complexities and conflict of motives. This was aptly threaded with challenges we face in our routine life as in the food habits and fasting ritual. Such challenges can be dealt with rationality and creatively balance it by taking into consideration the larger perspective of opportunities and workability. Apart from Non-violence and Austerity, another side of Jainism was displayed which spoke about Anekantvaad and Siadvaad. Anekantvaad speaks of multiple realities

signifying the different perspectives, and Siadvaad means looking at the things that exist from particular point of view and what doesn’t exist from a particular point of view. In these two, one goes by thought and other by practice. The proper integration in these two is the need of the hour which can be arrived at by proper dialogue or debate i.e.; vaad. The concept of vaad was objectively and clearly brought out by Dr. Kamini and put forth distinctly that vaad is healthy way of communication and not the argument or act of putting others down. It’s the only way to arrive at the ultimate truth. The crucial, present day situation of pandemic Covid-19 was roped in the discussion relevantly and proved how anxiety of the future seeps in the individual. The tendency to remain calm and quite will help to overcome this fear of uncertainty, was the idea put forth with conviction. On the same continuum another thought which was expressed was to Eat, Drink and make merry and do not think much about the future.

The commonality between varied religious philosophies of how to imbibe virtues, move ahead on the path of self-exploration and self identity as per what is the ultimate goal of one’s life, was pointed out in the discussion. The core concepts of concerns, complexities and dialogues were explained lucidly in the light of Jain religious philosophical principles. The deliberation gave a closer perspective of Jainism, especially Ahimsa and Austerity which are vital components in today’s world. In the 21st century, these inbuilt virtues play a very significant role for peaceful co-existence; in this sense the deliberation has added a different value to religious philosophy. With this note, Dr. Kamini Gogri concluded the presentation. After the presentation, Dr. Avkash Jadhav thanked Dr. Kamini Gogri and also highlighted few points from her presentation.

purity, intellect, truth and cleanliness. He also raised the question on the polyistic nature of the Sanatan Dharma to which he answered in the negative and instead affirmed that, Sanatan Dharma is a very ancient and a grand pluralistic way of life. Sanatan Dharma and Hindu Dharma to some extent is a principle oriented perspective. He also stated that, all that we see in the universe is an expansion of God and thus, we should embrace it, enjoy it and follow it. He ended by stating that Hinduism says Dharma accepts diversity within the unified.

After the presentation, Dr. Avkash Jadhav thanked Dr. Om Jee Upadhyay and emphasized certain points from his presentation. Then, Dr. Avkash Jadhav introduced Dr. Ravinder Kaur Cheema, Curator of the Sikh Heritage Museum and a Faculty Member of the Department of History at Guru Nanak Khalsa College (Autonomous), Mumbai, to the viewers with a quote by Guru Gobind Singh: The Temple and the Mosque are the same. Title of the Presentation: Sikh Philosophy: Path to Social Justice and Harmony

Dr. Ravinder commenced her presentation with the salutation of Wahe Guruji ka Khalsa, Wahe Guruji ki Fateh, to provide our viewers with the typical Sikh essence. She began by explaining the genesis and the evolution of Sikhism, and mainly focused on the crux of her paper i.e. how the teachings of all the 10 Sikh Gurus reflect light on the path to social justice and harmony. She further emphasised on how Sikhism believes in the existence of the Universal Supreme Being and its attributes by quoting the Ek Onkar from the Guru Granth Sahib. Manoeuvring us through the various philosophical teachings of Sikhism and highlighting the resonating aspects of hope and cheer, Dr. Ravinder brought us to The Pillars of Sikhism i.e. Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Vand Chakko, which means: calling out the name of God, working honestly and sharing your wealth with the poor, respectively. She also spoke about how the Sikh values of equality and brotherhood are manifested in the practices they follow, by giving an example of the community kitchens (called as the Langars), wherein people of different categories, unknown to each other, sit and eat together in the Gurudwaras. From the philosophical aspect, Dr. Ravinder then transitioned to speaking about the most important part of Sikhism i.e. its people. Over here, she hit the note while signifying about the Khalsa and the important role that they play in protecting the righteousness of the religion. She stressed on how Sikhism has always allowed inter-faith interaction and co-operation by quoting the example of Guru Arjan

She concluded by expressing her opinion on how people must stop undermining each other, and instead delve into the teachings of the prophets and religions, to harbour the feelings of love and trust without any discrimination. She ended her presentation on a good note by quoting Guru Gobind Singh:

Manas ki jat sabhe eke pehchanbo (Recognise all human race as one) On moderating the entire presentation, Dr. Avkash Jadhav rightly pointed out Dr. Ravinder’s efficient use of quotes to support her explanations and the fact that she very well explained of how the Sikh legacy has been carried forward by the people across the world, wherein Khalsa aids have reached to a lot of people in distress, such as the Rohingyas and the Syrians. On an endnote, Dr. Ravinder congratulated the entire team of Kaash Foundation for choosing a topic that is so sensitive and important in today’s context, as she feels that there is a need for a dialogue to improve sensitization in the present and forthcoming generations. Before moving on to the next session, Dr. Avkash Jadhav dedicated a quote of King Solomon to all the longstanding viewers: Give me the gift of a listening heart. Senate of Serampore College (University), India. Dr. Avkash Jadhav welcomed Dr. Santanu Patro with a quote by Pope Francis,

In a world where various forms of modern tyranny see to suppress religious freedom, or try to reduce it to a subculture without right to a voice in a public square, or to use religion as a pretext for hatred and brutality, it is imperative that the followers of the various religions joined their voices in calling for peace, tolerance and respect for the dignity and rights of others.

Resource Person: Dr. Santanu Patro Title of the Presentation: Faith, Humanity and Humanisation - A Christian Encounter Dr. Santanu Patro began his presentation appreciating the efforts put forth by KAASH Foundation in organising such a Symposium. He said that it not only strengthens our faith that the humanity is looking at religion for a solution, but also to ask a question of where we stand as the Faith community. Faith community is always inclusive in nature. He also commented on the theme chosen for the Symposium i.e. Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues in Religious Philosophy,

saying that it was very relevant in accordance to the ongoing crisis that the world is facing, where if science and religion were not working together, it would have been impossible for mankind to deal with it. He then said that faith has now been confined only to scriptures, whereas, faith should be a day-to-day personal encounter with the divine and individual. Dr. Santanu then told about how in the past religion showed antagonism towards materialism but it’s not the same in the present. Attitudes and understanding about religion have changed. Humanity is going towards a mode of transition. During this pandemic, the religious institutions have also shown that there is something in religion. Dr. Santanu spoke about two types of religion: 1. Scripture Tradition and 2. Oral Tradition. The scripture tradition consists of the religions that have recorded their philosophies, whereas, in oral tradition, the religious philosophies are passed on to the generations orally. Major religions such as Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam etc. come under scripture tradition. Dalit and Adivasi religions are examples of oral tradition. Then he continued the presentation by asking a question: ‘How faith can engage in humanity?’ He said that the world is divided into various segments, viz. politically, socially economically and religiously. Amidst of all this, peace and justice should prevail in all communities. Religion, economy and science should come together to work for humanity. These are some of the ways through which faith can be engaged in humanity. He also said that we should focus on liberation. Liberation is nothing but a search of humanization that does not constitute bondage, injustice and inequality. Faith is not static rather it is participatory. It creates an organic relationship between human and divine. It also provides science the space to participate in the transformation of human community together with faith community. Dr. Santanu proceeded with the next term: humanization. He said that

the future world lies in the inner understanding of religion and humanization. Faith and Humanity works towards humanization. Unless we aren’t secularized we cannot be humanized. We cannot understand humanity without understanding humanisation. Humanisation is an experience which is futuristic in nature. Humanisation is a manifestation of our spirituality. Dr. Santanu quoted M. M Thomas, a famous Indian theologian:

Humanization is anything but encountering the truth and the processes of truth. He continued saying that truth is a process. The more we go into the truth the better we understand humanity. At the end of the presentation, he pointed out a question: what should we encounter to strengthen the process of humanization? According to Dr. Santanu Patro, the aim of religion is to promote liberation and not liberalism. It is not to counter fundamentalism with liberal religious thinking but to create liberation where the faith community will be liberated whether it is moksha, nirvana or salvation. He said that we need to engage in liberating people and not creating liberalism of faith. He also stated that we should be emphasising on faith and not religion. And at the end, he spoke about dialogues. Dialogues must be based on pragmatism and not on dogmas, institutions, philosophies and theologies. He also told to think beyond humanity and work together to resolve the challenges and problems the world is facing today. Religious communities need to come together to address the issues that it is faced by the global community such as the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that it's an opportunity for the faith community to put humanity in right perspective. Dr. Santanu thinks it's the right time because he believes that the world order is going to change in this experience of COVID-19 pandemic. While speaking about how

we need to act as faith communities, he came up with a term ‘NEW NORMAL’ with respect to the post Corona phase and shared his opinions about it. In this way, Dr. Santanu concluded his presentation on Faith, Humanity and Humanization- A Christian Encounter.

After the presentation, Dr. Avkash Jadhav thanked Dr. Santanu Patro and highlighted some important points to the viewers. Prof. Adi Widyatmika thanked Dr. Avkash Jadhav on behalf of Prof. Dr. I Ketut Ardhana for the collaboration and for organizing the Symposium. Mr. Irfan Engineer also said that “God is one” and God can only be seen partly because of our limited abilities and vision. But the search for truth should be continued as Gandhi ji said “Truth is God”. Dr. Baidyanath Labh also said that every Dharam can have different angles and terminologies but every Dharam should aim for their welfare and welfare for humanity. Dr. Kamini Gogri said that the new challenge is to take ourselves to the next level by discussing common issues and by accepting the differences. Dr. Ravinder Kaur Cheema expressed that there is a need for dialogue not only amongst the experts and intellectuals but the present generation should be also brought into, to save the earth and for many other reasons. Dr. Santanu Patro was happy to be part of the Symposium as it helped him to understand how can one engage into promoting and strengthening the world view and contribute to the good of humanity and relations. interactions between humans can lead us to establish a peaceful world with a respect to the variation of different ideas and cultures. The most interesting idea that attracted my attention was the one of the principles of Jainism that is named as Ahimsa. It is based on our dealing with animals and how not harming them could be practical for humans which would instead lead us toward global peace. Also, the harmony, tolerance, peace, moderation, social justice and equality, empowerment of women that are emphasized in Sikhism was very interesting for me which has motivated me to start extra studies about such amazing motifs. Thus, the multiple characteristics of Dharma as way of life and spiritual motifs as well as Hindu classical philosophy, differences in worshiping in Hinduism and their definitions from existence, importance of modern materialism in body of religions, brief indications on Ancient Near East religions, Shamanism, divinity, faith communities that were discussed by professors are so thoughtful and motivational. I really appreciate your hard word and well-organized Webinar Symposium.

E-Proceeding of the 2nd International Symposium on Concerns, Complexities and Dialogues in Religious Philosophy, organised by Kaash Foundation on 12th May 2020.

FEEDBACK: Philosophy of Religion is the philosophical study of the meaning and nature of religion. It includes the analysis of religious concepts, beliefs, terms, arguments, and practices of religious adherents. The scope of much of the work done in philosophy of religion has been limited to the various theistic religions. More recent work often involves a broader, more global approach, taking into consideration both theistic and non-theistic religious traditions. The range of those engaged in the field of philosophy of religion is broad and diverse and includes philosophers from the analytic and continental traditions, Eastern and Western thinkers, religious believers and agnostics, skeptics and atheists. Philosophy of religion draws on all of the major areas of philosophy as well as other relevant fields, including theology, history, sociology, psychology, and the natural sciences. Religious phenomena are in complex problems. Religion in the reality of humanity seems to have a double face. On one hand, religion is confronted with problems of conflict between religious communities. Religion shows arrogance in the form of violence, war, hatred and even murder. But on the other hand, religion is confronted with the reality of powerlessness. How religious people still experience poverty, impoverishment, injustice, ignorance, backwardness and oppression. This shows that religion has not been able to overcome social problems. The complexity of the face of religion, trying to be dissected using the knife of sociological hermeneutic analysis that emphasizes the dialectical process between ideality and the reality of religious communities. Those religious communities must be able and willing to apply the principle of movement towards a religion of ideals. That is a futuristic paradigm that departs from an optimistic-positivistic understanding of religion as a step of the conceptual-praxis-functional movement of religion as a catalyst for social change. Thus, a more responsive and cooperative

FEEDBACK: Very informative Webinar Symposium. The speakers were very well fluent, which is highly appreciable and they enlightened us with their fountain of knowledge. Thanks to Kaash Foundation for providing us with such great webinars. It is really appreciable, that they are able to connect us with knowledgeable speakers from all over the globe. This also provides international integrity, and makes us feel like one family, giving us the feeling of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Overall, their presentations and PPTs were very well made and were very informative at the same time. They were always related to the topic, which brings me to the next point....Overall, throughout the webinar symposium, every one focused on the topic and were always relevant, which is again highly appreciable. We also got to know about different cultures and traditions, which enriched our spiritual knowledge and made us enlightened externally and internally. It is lovely to experience such great positive energies from all over globe, during the global times of panic and stress due to COVID 19. Daily we were hearing sad news, which did impact our mental health and made us feel bad, but your webinar was filled with positivity, which is highly appreciable. You guys have impressed me so much, that I will certainly recommend you guys to my friends too. Hope to see more such contentful webinars in the upcoming days.

FEEDBACK: Really it is a wonderful and knowledgeable session for me. In the future, I also would want to be a part of such webinars. I am very thankful to speakers and organizing committee. Through the webinar, I learned a lot about humanity, disparity, and other things. The plus point of this webinar is that the speakers delivered their lectures and presentations in a very simple and effective way. So this type of webinar is a way through which, we have established ourselves in the minds of some, as a knowledge-sharing platform. Our webinars are free and a lot of people have found value in them. Therefore, people look out for the webinar invites, knowing that they will be able to attend a valuable knowledge sharing session at no cost at all. In this lockdown period, this webinar is a blessing for us. Social networks serve as valuable topics and enjoyed with friends, family, and acquaintances, but also with strangers. Most of the information online is free and available to everyone. Online stores and sales platforms such as Amazon and eBay make it possible to shop directly from home. It is also easy to share media content such as images and thorough a presentation. I really like human values related to views. Humans have the unique ability to define their identity, choose their

values, and establish their beliefs. All three of these directly influence a person’s behaviour. People have gone to great lengths to demonstrate the validity of their beliefs, including war and sacrificing their own life! Conversely, people are not motivated to support or validate the beliefs of another, when those beliefs are contrary to their own. People will act congruently with their personal values or what they deem to be important. Personal values are defined as Emotional beliefs, in principles regarded as particularly favourable or important for the individual. Our values associate emotions with our experiences and guide our choices, decisions, and actions. I am very thankful to speakers and organizing committee.

FEEDBACK: It was well organized and very relevant topics were discussed. It was just amazing to be a part of this programme. The very first presentation on Indonesian idea of Panchasheela and ideas of integrations, I now feel that those are the strengths behind their happy multiculturalism. The religions of the world have been teaching the same moralities but people’s minds have created different meanings and wreck havoc on humanity. I think this is the need of the hour that we look at each other with open eyes and open heart for a peaceful existence and without this, humanity cannot prosper at all. Individual efforts need to be made because everyone's burden cannot be put on someone else's shoulders; we have work for world peace collectively and individually.

The anchor quoted the eternal truth put by Kalil Gibran that we may have different paths of religion but the ultimate goal is only one. Mr. Engineer began his talk with the basic principles of Islam. FEEDBACK: It was simply great and I am honoured to get a chance to meet such great people. Dr.Ardhana who was from Hindu University, Indonesia explained Buddhism. Mr. Irfan Engineer has talked about Secularism. Mr. Noor Agha Noori talked about the difference between Islam and other religions. Dr. Kamini talked about morality and fasting. She said what we need is, to accept the way I am, which was quite true. Very enthusiastic lecture which I personally enjoyed was Dr. Om Jee Upadhyay’s, where he said that our world is family, but still dharma is misunderstood by people. Actually I feel it is a behavioural pattern. Dr. Ravinder Kaur had explained about Sikh community. There were many aspects that I was not aware of. Dr. Santanu’s presentation was very good. element of this webinar is the subject matter of the different speakers. It is quite pertinent to address and certainly to derive the right meaning out of the (co)existence of various religions in a country like India. The correspondence between philosophy and humans' way of thinking seems so complex at times; however, maintaining linearity as well. The lectures were illuminating. Philosophy is one of the subjects that can fill the human mind with knowledge, so the discussion on the various aspects of philosophy in connection with religion is of the paramount significance in the contemporary world.
