Smoke Alarm Installation Programme

Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in London, a ministerial working group was established to review Scotland’s Building and Fire Safety Regulatory Frameworks. In February 2019 the Scottish Government announced that the legislation relating to smoke detection in the home was changing to ensure all domestic properties in Scotland, regardless of tenure, have the same levels of detection, thereby increasing fire safety. Your landlord, West Lothian Council, will be responsible for making sure that your home complies with this new safety standard, which comes into force in February 2021.
