I. Abimelech manipulates his way to leadership in Israel. a. Abimelech name means my father is king. b. Abimelech was the son of Gideon and he killed his seventy half brothers. c. He ruled Israel with His own wisdom and he died at the hands of a woman.

II. Tola judges Israel for 23 YEARS.

III. Jair judged Israel for 22 years.

Jephthah Judges 10:11-11:40 IV. You can either allow the circumstances of your past to scare you or build you. a. Jephthah father was a bit of a player b. Jephthah mother was a prostitute c. His half -brothers didn’t like him and disowned him with their father died. i. You aren’t going to get any money ii. The divisiveness of money with family d. The conspiracy to drive him out went outside the family to the people of the city. (vs 7) e. Jephthah didn’t become bitter-he became better- (verse 7) f. Jephthah mentions Yahweh more than any other judge g. His daddy taught him that. h. The faith of mothers and fathers today. That’s how many of us treat God. Like a spare tire.

V. God often uses the painful circumstances to draw us back to Him.(10:6-16) a. The Children of Israel had a pattern of repenting and turning. b. God had enough and told them to turn to the things you respect more than Him. i. Money-sex-alcohol-lifestyle of doing your own thing your way. ii. Where does that lead you to-right where you are. c. It’s never too late to come back to God. i. Come back to the God of your Mothers and your fathers. ii. You have to be willing to repent VI. You must be willing to make God the head of your life. a. The Israelites came to a point when they understood there way hadn’t been working for them b. They told Jephthah even though we have rejected you in the past we are coming to you now. Please lead us. c. Are you ready for God to lead your life?
