S. No Pers.No. Name Fname Date of Birth Date of Appointment to Be The teachers/officers with an ampersand (&) appearing against their name in the last column have been provisionally indicated in the seniority list. They are requested to contact the district EMIS cell or the relevant DEO to provide the missing details or rectify the erroneous entry. In case the relevant teacher/officer does not respond within one month of display of these lists on the department website, then his/her name would be removed from the seniority list and his/her name will be deferred when being considered for promotion. • High-Level Nuclear Wastes and the Environment: Analyses of Challenges and Engineering Strategies
World Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 2012, 2, 89-105 http://dx.doi.org/10.4236/wjnst.2012.23015 Published Online July 2012 (http://www.SciRP.org/journal/wjnst) High-Level Nuclear Wastes and the Environment: Analyses of Challenges and Engineering Strategies Mukhtar Ahmed Rana Physics Division, Directorate of Science, PINSTECH, Islamabad, Pakistan Email: [email protected], [email protected] Received February 11, 2012; revised April 2, 2012; accepted April 19, 2012 ABSTRACT The main objective of this paper is to analyze the current status of high-level nuclear waste disposal along with presen- tation of practical perspectives about the environmental issues involved. Present disposal designs and concepts are ana- lyzed on a scientific basis and modifications to existing designs are proposed from the perspective of environmental safety. A new concept of a chemical heat sink is introduced for the removal of heat emitted due to radioactive decay in the spent nuclear fuel or high-level radioactive waste, and thermal spikes produced by radiation in containment materi- als. Mainly, UO2 and metallic U are used as fuels in nuclear reactors. Spent nuclear fuel contains fission products and transuranium elements which would remain radioactive for 104 to 108 years. Essential concepts and engineering strate- gies for spent nuclear fuel disposal are described. Conceptual designs are described and discussed considering the long-term radiation and thermal activity of spent nuclear fuel. Notions of physical and chemical barriers to contain nu- clear waste are highlighted. A timeframe for nuclear waste disposal is proposed and time-line nuclear waste disposal plan or policy is described and discussed.

  • Lollywood - Pakistani Cinema Through a Transitional Lens
Lollywood - Pakistani Cinema Through A Transitional Lens Dr. Erum Hafeez Aslam1 ABSTRACT The 68-year long history of Pakistani films has had its story of successes and failures. It has been a long time since films, as an industry, have been struggling to carve a niche for themselves. Recuperating from the blow of partition, films produced in Pakistan indicate that despite all odds, the local film industry has a lot of potential in every area of production: be it actors, directors, technicians, poets or script writers. Yet, for some reasons, successful combinations have not been able to sustain themselves long enough to contribute significantly. As a consequence, we have only been exposed to a few glimpses of rare productions. The objective of this study is to archive the historical evolution of Pakistani Cinema and give an overrview of the factors that have supposedly contributed to the rise and fall of the local film industry in different eras. This study follows the two-pronged approach. Both Qualitative Content Analysis and Literature Review are used as the methods of study. Firstly, five top grossing Pakistani films are sampled and content analyzed through popularity charts from each of the six decades under study. Subsequently, relevant literature, including newspapers and magazines articles, reviews and books are referred through online database to complement the analysis of the films. Convenient random sampling technique is used for the selection of the mainstream literature, reviewed. It is evident from the study that the lack of vibrant ideas, repetitive themes, the absence of modern facilities, industry's infighting besides illegal screening of Indian films on cable, new electronic channels and availability of pirated foreign films have led to the downfall of the Pakistani film industry.

  • Pakistani Cinema: a Seventy Years Study of Rise and Fall Dr
Pakistani Cinema: A Seventy Years Study of Rise and Fall Dr. Uzma Parveen, Tahira Tariq & Muhammad Tariq Siddiqui Abstract Pakistani Cinema is now more than 70 years old but it is not an established one as it must be. Pakistani film industry is still struggling to get a prominent position in comparison with the neighboring countries. Its history is full of success and failure stories. The industry was not fully recovered from the shocks and after socks of partition of India when a number of artists moved to India. There was another blow of partition dividing Pakistan into two halves Bangladesh and the present Pakistan. Again, Dacca having a prominent cinema culture was gone with some of the best artists. The films produced clearly shows that the local film industry has a lot of talent in every area of film production but there are a lot of reasons due to which successful combinations have not been able to sustain themselves long enough to contribute significantly. That is why there are a very few super hit productions. 181 Journal of Mass Communication, Vol. 12, May, 2015 The objective of this study is to collect and present the historical evolution of Pakistani Cinema and to give an overview of the factors that evidently contribute to the rise and fall of the cinema industry in different eras. This study follows Qualitative survey as the method of research. The study is divided into seven decades and convenient random sampling technique is used with the help of questioner to get the public view of the Pakistani cinema under study.

  • Heroine in the Narratives of Pakistani Cinema
Heroine in the Narratives of Pakistani Cinema Saqlain Zaidi* Abstract This paper explores the portrayal of Pakistani women in the narratives of Pakistani film and investigates whether those portrayals are close to real life. Starting from a chooi-mooi girl to the brave Sara of Shoaib Mansoor’s Verna who takes revenge of her rape, Pakistani heroine has come a long way from being depicted mostly as passive, dependent on men, and enmeshed in relationships or housework1 to an active, independent and a rebellious individual. This paper explores how the story worlds of different heroines, although presented in a heightened reality, are in fact reflective of real problems and desires. The stylistic device of lifting these story worlds of heroines to an above-reality level allows the privacy to acknowledge they exist without feeling publicly challenged.2 Key words: Women and Pakistani Cinema, Chooi -mooi girl (very delicate), new content of films *Assistant Professor in Media Science Department at SZABIST, Karachi where he teaches screenwriting, film theory and literature.
