EDISON EARTH DAY CELEBRATION Edison Township will be celebrating Earth Day on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Papaianni Park, 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison. This celebration is being co-sponsored by the Township of Edison, Edison Clean Communities Program, Edison Township Environmental Commission and Edison Sustainable Jersey Green Team and is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. EDISON RECREATION TO OFFER JOB FAIR – SUMMER PLAYGROUND POSITIONS TO BE FILLED The Edison Recreation Department will be offering a Job Fair to fill playground positions for the 2014 Summer Season, which will begin on Monday, June 30, 2014. Enthusiastic applicants 16 years of age and older (18 and over for Head Counselors) are needed to provide varied, supervised activities for children ages 5 through 12; such as crafts, games, sports and trips. The program is operated at various playground locations throughout the Township for six (6) weeks, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program is also looking for van drivers and floaters. RECREATION OFFERS WEIGHT ROOM FACILITIES FOR ADULTS Our Edison Recreation Department offers weight rooms at both community centers. Open to both residents and non-residents, both centers offer free weights, universal machines, treadmills and exercise bikes.

A resident fee of $10.00 a month or a non-resident fee of $30.00 a month is charged. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. IN PERSON REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED at the Recreation Office, 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison.

ROVERS 2014 SPRING TRAINING – The annual Rovers 2014 Spring Training Soccer “Skills Camp” directed by professional soccer coach, Spencer Rockman, kicks off the week of April 27th at the Ste lton Community Center/Stelton Park and at the Minnie B. Veal Community Center/James Elder Park. This once-a-week, high energy skills camp runs for five weeks. The emphasis is on skill- building training games which promote maximum learning and enjoyment…enhanced by a small-sided soccer match in each session. The camp accommodates all levels of playing experience. The fun never stops!

LITTLE EAGLES WRESTLING is having an outstanding 2013/2014 season! Coached by former Edison High School wrestler, Jason Figurski, the Varsity Team has a 4-1 record in the Mid-Jersey Wrestling League. The team consists of K-6 grade Edison students led by 5 returning 6th graders; Nick DiMaria, Anthony Giordano, Ahmed Johnson, Cody LeBrocq and Tommy Shields. Nick DiMaria and Ahmed Johnson are each undefeated with a 6-0 record. They share the team lead in wins by pin with Cody LeBrocq all with 3. The Jr. Varsity Team consists of 20 wrestlers in grades K-4, all seeing significant mat time. Due to the success of this year’s program, Edison’s Little Eagles will be adding a senior team next year for children in 7th and 8th grades.
