  • Fernando Takes Home One-Point After Measured Drive in Austria Alpine F1
Fernando takes home one-point after measured drive in Austria Alpine F1 Team’s Fernando Alonso claimed a well-deserved point from the BWT Austrian Grand Prix after a thrilling finale in Spielberg. Team-mate Esteban Ocon retired from the race after an unfortunate incident on the opening lap. Fernando had to dig deep to claim tenth place, passing Williams’ George Russell four laps from the end after a battling duel between the pair. On a bold one-stop, Medium to Hard strategy, Fernando was able to make the plan stick as he continued his points streak, which now spans to four consecutive races. Esteban’s afternoon ended at Turn 3 on the opening lap of the 71-lap race as he was caught up in an incident between Mick Schumacher and Antonio Giovinazzi. The Frenchman was stuck in the middle of the pair and suffered front right suspension damage, which forced his retirement. Esteban Ocon, started P17, DNF: “It was unfortunate for our race to end early today. There wasn’t much I could have done as I was sandwiched between Mick [Schumacher] and Antonio [Giovinazzi] at Turn 3 in a racing incident. It’s one of those things and a consequence of starting the race at the back. There’s always a chance for fights and contact and it’s easier to be caught up in trouble there. The team and I can’t seem to catch a break at the moment. We’ll reset, restart from zero and prepare for Silverstone. The only way we can go is forwards.” Fernando Alonso, started P14, finished P10: “It was difficult to score points today and we knew this starting from so far back.

  • At Mugello the Polesitter Juan Correa Wins Race 1 Also Taking out the Rookie Trophy
Press Release Number 36 / 2016 At Mugello the polesitter Juan Correa wins Race 1 also taking out the Rookie Trophy On a dry circuit with the temperature just under 30 degrees, the first race of the 4th round of the championship saw Mick Schumacher and Giuliano Raucci on the podium together with Correa Borgo S.Lorenzo (FI) 16/07/2016 – In fine weather conditions after the rain of Friday, the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth came to life in Race 1, an extremely competitive race yet without major incident. Best off the line was the American – the Rookie – driving for the Prema Power Team, Juan Correa, who led away from pole position and drove a perfect race, despite constant pressure from his team mate Mick Schumacher. Lap after lap, Correa gradually increased his lead, only easing up slightly at the race end to win with an advantage of 1.7 seconds. • Further back was the rest of the field. The third placed driver, the Brazilian Giuliano Raucci of Diegi Motorsport, finishing almost 13 seconds behind the race winner, but having driven a great race, having recovered from dropping back to sixth on the first lap (from grid 5), but regaining his rhythm to recover. Finishing in fourth was the Mexican Raul Guzman (DR Racing), after a great battle with the Argentine – and leader of the championship at this point – Marcos Siebert (Jenzer Motorsport), who retired from this race after losing his front wing whilst trying to pass Guzman. • Fifth for Joao Vieira (Antonelli Motorsport), followed by Diego Bertonelli (Bhaitech), Simone Cunati (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing), Devlin De Francesco (Kfzteile24 Mucke Motorsport), Juri Vips (Prema Power Team) and Job Van Uitert rounding out the top ten.

  • Six Drivers in Contention to Be F3 Champion, Ferrari's
Press Release SIX DRIVERS IN CONTENTION TO BE F3 CHAMPION, FERRARI’S FUTURE STARS LEAD F2 TO MUGELLO Milan, September 10, 2020 - After an intense season with nine rounds in the space of 11 weekends, a new Formula 3 champion will be crowned at Mugello. Six drivers are in mathematical contention to win the title: Prema Racing team-mates Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix), Liam Lawson (Hitech GP), David Beckmann (Trident) and Frederik Vesti (Prema). In Formula 2, where Mugello is the first of four rounds still to run, the championship standings are headed by Callum Ilott, Mick Schumacher and Robert Shwartzman: all three are members of the Ferrari Driver Academy and are covered by only nine points. The challenge Mugello is made up of 15 corners that are mainly medium to high speed, meaning the lateral demands on the tyres are far greater than the braking and traction forces. The surface at Mugello is known to be aggressive, adding to the demands on the tyres. Temperatures are also likely to be high, making thermal degradation a factor. Mugello has never hosted the F2 or F3 championships or their predecessors, not even for testing. Teams will therefore have limited knowledge about car setup and how the tyres will perform, prior to the single 45-minute free practice sessions on Friday. The tyres and strategy The P Zero White hard and P Zero Red soft tyres have been nominated in Formula 2 for Mugello, creating an interesting performance gap between the compounds.
