Description of development 2.1 The condition sought for variation or removal is condition 2 on planning permission 1/W/01/001102. The description of the development was: “Make alterations to convert existing building to 2No units of holiday accommodation” This consent was granted on 12 October 2001. Condition 2, attached to the consent, reads: “The use hereby permitted shall be for holiday purposes only and not for permanent residential occupation.” 2.2 The application initially sought to remove this condition entirely to allow the building to be used as a residential dwelling. However, the site address for the application concerns The Loft only and the applicant has subsequently confirmed this in writing and through the submission of further plans. The proposal to lift the holiday let restriction only applies to The Loft and not the premises referred to as ‘The Nest’ on the ground floor, which was included as part of the original consent and is under different ownership. 2.3 On this basis, it therefore considered more appropriate to vary the condition so that it is only The Loft that is considered under this application for the lifting of the original holiday let condition, as opposed to the complete removal of the condition which would enable both units (The Loft and The Nest) to be unrestricted dwellings, which is not what has been proposed.

West Dorset District Council Bridport Community Governance Review Submission from Bridport Town Council 1.0 Background 1.1 The Town Council agreed to request a community governance review in respect of the Town Council’s boundary with Symondsbury, bearing in mind the proposed development of up to 800 new dwellings at Vearse Farm. 1.2 The reasons for requesting the review are: That the residents of the new dwellings at Vearse Farm will look to Bridport town parish for their services and community focus. The main access routes to and from Vearse Farm - vehicle, pedestrian and cycling – provide links to Bridport town centre. The increased number of residents will increase pressure on services delivered by the Town Council. The increased number of properties and therefore the tax base would make a significant difference to the Town Council’s ability to deliver services in the town, through the increased income to be raised through the precept. This is particularly important when the Town Council will be delivering more services as a result of Local Government Reorganisation. To ensure that residents of Vearse Farm are able to participate in the democratic process for the local council - Bridport Town Council - that will deliver services in the town that they will use. The town boundary has not been reviewed for some time and does not reflect the growth of urban Bridport. In comparison to many other towns in Dorset, Bridport parish covers a much smaller proportion of the urban area (see Appendix A). This is an opportunity to ensure that this further extension of the town is included within the town boundary.

Pidgeons of Thorncombe – Whitchurch, Dorset Branch
PIDGEONs of Thorncombe – Whitchurch, Dorset branch Henry Pidgeon was born in 1830 at Thorncombe, Dorset, the son of Henry Pidgeon and Elizabeth Quinton (see the PIDGEONs of Yarcombe & Thorncombe family tree). In 1854 he married Betsy Eliza Turner of Whitchurch Canonicorum, a parish about 5 miles south of Thorncombe. At first they lived at Whitchurch, but later moved to Marshwood, then Symondsbury, and finally Chideock, all villages in the same part of west Dorset, and in the registration district of Bridport. Whitchurch Canonicorum was named after the church of St Wite (St Candida in Latin), whose shrine is in the church, the only one to have survived the Reformation with its relicts intact, except for that of Edward the Confessor in Westminster Abbey. The name of Canonicorum (of the canons) was added because the Bishops of Sarum (Salisbury) and Wells were granted a half of the manor each by Edward the Confessor.
