LVI BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS MARIA LENK TROPHY - TEST EVENT RIO 2016 April, 15 to 20 /2016 /BRA

I – The “Test Event” will take place simultaneously with the Brazilian Swimming Championship – Maria Lenk Trophy in the city of Rio de Janeiro, location to be determined.

II – As this competition will be considered a “test event” preparing for the Olympic Games in Rio, all countries affiliated with FINA will be able to participate.

III – The “Test Event” will only have a maximum of 200 (two hundred) foreign athletes participating. After the interested countries reach the limited number of athletes, the registrations will close.

IV – Due to the special conditions of the event, each country will be able to nominate 2 (two) swimmers in individual races. There will not be Relay events.

V – The 800m free women’s and the 1500m free men’s races will not have qualifying events. The swimmers with the slowest times will swim in the morning, and the 8 (eight) swimmers with the fastest times will compete in the afternoon.

VI – The registered athletes must abide by the qualifying times for participation, in a 50m pool, as shown in the following table.

VII – The competition will be structured with qualifiers in the morning and finals in the afternoon, as shown in the program attached.

VIII – In the international final (A), the 8 (eight) best times from the qualifiers will race, independently of the nationality. In the national final (B) only Brazilian swimmers will race.

IX – The Brazilian swimmers will compete for their clubs. This way, the Brazilian swimmers that are qualified among the 8 (eight) best times will participate in the final “A” without the limitation of number of athletes.

X – Both finals will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals.

XI – Foreign swimmers will not be scored per race. Only Brazilian swimmers will score to compete for an efficiency trophy and help in the general score of their clubs.

XII – Trophies will be offered to the athletes with the best technical qualifying times. These will be calculated based on the FINA index. Trophies will be offered to the best foreign swimmers (male and female) and to the best Brazilian swimmers (male and female).

XIII – The invited countries will not pay for any registration fee. However, the expenses for transportation, accommodation and boarding are the responsibility of each participating country.

XIV – The countries interested in participating in the “Test Event” are to forward the preliminary entry informing the total number of members of the delegation to the following emails: [email protected] and [email protected]. An access password will be provided to the cbdaweb, where each country will be able to nominate their swimmers for the races.
