8. Achievements of the seminar.

The seminar was composed of as many as 20 presentations on twelve subjects. Through these presentations, the seminar has provided a standard on the analytical methodology for research works on social capital for both Korean and Japanese researchers in this field. It also clarified difficulties and basic issues in each specific academic area. In every session, presentations were followed by lively discussions. In fact, the major compliant on the seminar from the participants was that the time allocated for Q&A was too short. The seminar created basic social capital among participants for future academic collaborations between Korean researchers and Japanese researchers. For instance, in January 2012, College of Law of Nihon University invited Dr. Sunhyuk Kim, the coordinator of the seminar, as a visiting scholar to talk about the possibility of academic collaborations. Other attempts to carry out joint researches between Korea and Japan have been reported as well.
