Here is the prayer composed by Pope Benedict XVI, which was said at the conclusion of the Prayer Vigil for the Unborn on 27 Nov ember 2010: Prayer for the Unborn

Lord Jesus, You who faithfully visit and fulfill with your Presence the Church and the history of men; You who in the miraculous Sacrament of your Body and Blood render us parcipants in divine Life and allow us a foretaste of the joy of eternal Life; We adore and bless you. Prostrated before You, source and lover of Life, truly present and alive among us, we beg you. Reawaken in us respect for every unborn life, make us capable of seeing in the fruit of the maternal womb the miraculous work of the Creator, open our hearts to generously welcoming every child that comes into life. Bless all families, sancfy the union of spouses, render fruiul their love. Accompany the choices of legislave assemblies with the light of your Spirit, so that peoples and naons may recognize and respect the sacred nature of life, of every human life. Guide the work of sciensts and doctors, so that all progress contributes to the integral well-being of the person, and no one endures suppression or injusce. Give creave charity to administrators and economists, so they may realize and promote sufficient condions so that young families can serenely embrace the birth of new children. Console the married couples who suffer because they are unable to have children and in Your goodness provide for them. Teach us all to care for orphaned or abandoned children, so they may experience the warmth of your Charity, the consolaon of your divine Heart. Together with Mary, Your Mother, the great believer, in whose womb you took on our human nature, we wait to receive from You, our Only True Good and Savior, the strength to love and serve life, in ancipaon of living for- ever in You, in communion with the Blessed Trinity. APRIL 2011 http://st-raphaels.com/ccw.html CCW Newsletter From the Pastor’s Desk Dear CCW members: On March 25th, the Solemnity of the Annunciaon of the Lord, I told the people at morning Mass that this used to be New Year’s Day in the old Julian calendar. People in Medieval mes would tra- dionally celebrate New Year’s for one week, from March 25th to April 1st. But since 1582, we have been celebrang New Year’s Day on Janu- ary 1st according to the new Gregorian calendar that was instuted by Pope Gregory XIII. However, some people thought that the new calendar was much St. Raphael Catholic Church too radical and refused to change, so they connued to follow the Julian calendar and celebrated New Year’s for the week of March 25th to April 1st. These same people were later referred to as “April Fools.” Human beings are creatures of habit, and this bit of trivia reminds us of how hard it is to change. Last month I wrote about how the season of Lent can assist us in the never-ending spiritual process of changing our hearts and turning away from sin. Easter will soon be upon us, and there is sll much CCW OFFICERS more that needs to change in our lives to conform to Christ.
