Big Business And Conservative Groups Helped Bolster The Sedition Caucus’ Coffers During The Second Fundraising Quarter Of 2021 Executive Summary During the 2nd Quarter Of 2021, 25 major PACs tied to corporations, right wing Members of Congress and industry trade associations gave over $1.5 million to members of the Congressional Sedition Caucus, the 147 lawmakers who voted to object to certifying the 2020 presidential election. This includes: • $140,000 Given By The American Crystal Sugar Company PAC To Members Of The Caucus. • $120,000 Given By Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Majority Committee PAC To Members Of The Caucus • $41,000 Given By The Space Exploration Technologies Corp. PAC – the PAC affiliated with Elon Musk’s SpaceX company. Also among the top PACs are Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and the National Association of Realtors. Duke Energy and Boeing are also on this list despite these entity’s public declarations in January aimed at their customers and shareholders that were pausing all donations for a period of time, including those to members that voted against certifying the election. The leaders, companies and trade groups associated with these PACs should have to answer for their support of lawmakers whose votes that fueled the violence and sedition we saw on January 6. 117Th Illinois Congressional Delegation
ILLINOIS CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION 117th Congress Two Senators represent each state in the U.S. Senate and are elected to serve six-year terms. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D) of Springfield was elected to represent Illinois for a fifth term in 2020. Tammy Duckworth of Hoffman Estates (D) was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016. (See pages 16-19 for U.S. Senator photos and biographies.) In the November 2020 general election, Illinois voters elected 18 candidates to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives for two-year terms. Thirteen Democratic and five Republican U.S. Representatives were elected to serve in the 117th Congress. The November 2020 general election was historical, with the most women ever elect- ed to serve in Congress. Democrat Marie Newman and Republican Mary Miller — repre- senting districts that were previously held by men — added to the increase of female Representatives. Newman definitively won the general election to represent the 13th District after defeating 16-year incumbent U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinksi (D) in the March pri- mary. Miller won the 15th District seat that was previously held by U.S. Rep. John Shimkus (R), who served 12 terms in Congress and opted not to run for reelection. Since 1818, Illinois has had a total of 20 female U.S. Representatives. In 2021, seven are currently rep- resenting our state — a record-breaking total. Proven Results RECORD-SETTING PRIMARY ELECTIONS A record number of voters participated in Michigan’s primary election on Aug. 4, with more than 2.5 million people casting a vote either in person or by absentee ballot. One of the most followed races in the primary was the 13th Congressional District rematch between U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit) and Detroit City Council President Brenda Jones. Jones represented the district for a few weeks in 2018, following the resignation of Rep. John Conyers (D-Detroit) in December 2017. After his resignation, there were two elections for the seat with Jones winning the special election to complete Conyers unexpired term, and Tlaib winning the regular race for the Congressional seat. This year, Tlaib and Jones were the only primary candidates. On Tuesday, Tlaib won the strongly Democratic district with nearly twice as many votes as Jones, potentially guaranteeing her a second term. In the 3rd Congressional District in West Michigan, Republican Peter Meijer, a U.S. Army veteran whose family founded the well-known Meijer retail chain, won a five-way contest with more than 50 percent of the vote, including holding a strong lead over his main opponent Rep. Lynn Afendoulis. Meijer will face Democratic attorney Hillary Scholten. The winner of that race will succeed U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, a former Republican turned Libertarian who is not seeking reelection. Biden The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, D.C. 20500 Dear Mr. President, We write to you today to express our profound concern with the Administration’s support for waiving intellectual property (IP) protections related to COVID-19 vaccines under the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIP). We remain committed to working together to address the global needs of vaccine distribution, but this proposed waiver will not help us meet that goal. Intellectual Property (IP) protections have fostered life-saving biomedical innovation, strengthened the U.S. economy, created millions of good paying jobs, and made our country the world leader in the development of cutting-edge diagnostics, treatments, and cures. We firmly believe that waiving these IP protections will prove to be disastrous and counterproductive in our fight against this global pandemic and urge you in the strongest possible terms to rescind your support for this policy. The real challenges in fighting the pandemic include tackling major logistical, manufacturing, and health care delivery hurdles. Weakening IP rules will not solve any of these challenges. The United States Trade Representative’s (USTR) announcement is deeply disappointing and will do nothing to accelerate the global distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. Quite the contrary, waiving the IP protections would only serve to undermine innovation and make it even more difficult for industry to respond to both the current pandemic and future health emergencies. Moreover, if implemented, the proposal could have the opposite effect, by reducing the availability of critical raw materials necessary to manufacture these vaccines. -

October 16, 2020 Mr. Jack Dorsey CEO, Twitter Inc. 1355 Market St. #900 San Francisco, CA 94103 Dear Mr. Dorsey: We write with significant concerns regarding the unparalleled actions Twitter recently took to suppress several stories from the New York Post, one of the oldest publications in the United States, that detail troubling allegations regarding Hunter Biden, the son of current Democrat nominee for President, Joe Biden.123 This unprecedented attack, which shows a clear disregard for the spirit of the First Amendment and our country’s long history of open dialogue among citizens, is the latest in a troubling pattern of actions taken by Twitter to target conservative viewpoints on its platform. Such actions include labeling President Trump’s tweets as a threat to “public health” or “public safety” while turning a blind eye to Chinese Communist Party propaganda, unequivocal threats from the Supreme Leader of Iran, and use of your platform to put law enforcement in harm’s way.4 While it has been evident for some time that Twitter and other social media platforms have acted with clear bias against conservative viewpoints and Republican politicians, these latest actions represent an unacceptable escalation and threaten the future of our democratic discourse. During your testimony to the Energy and Commerce Committee in 2018 you stated, “Twitter does not use political ideology to make any decisions.”5 Clearly, this statement is patently false, or the official posture of your company has changed. During your time as CEO, it has become clear that Twitter has no qualms about using the power of its platform to selectively censor certain types of speech to advance a blatant political agenda.
