Bachelor of Public Administration Pathway: Antelope Valley College To earn a bachelor’s degree from National University students must complete a minimum of 180 quarter units. 4.3 Cultural Resources
4.3 CULTURAL RESOURCES INTRODUCTION W & S Consultants, (W&S) conducted an archaeological survey of the project site that included an archival record search conducted at the local California Historic Resource Information System (CHRIS) repository at the South Central Coastal Information Center (SCCIC) located on the campus of California State University, Fullerton. In July 2010, a field survey of the 1.2-mile proposed project site was conducted. The archaeological survey report can be found in Appendix 4.3. Mitigation measures are recommended which would reduce potential impacts to unknown archeological resources within the project site, potential impacts to paleontological resources, and the discovery of human remains during construction to less than significant. PROJECT BACKGROUND Ethnographic Setting Tataviam The upper Santa Clara Valley region, including the study area, was inhabited during the ethnographic past by an ethnolinguistic group known as the Tataviam.1 Their language represents a member of the Takic branch of the Uto-Aztecan linguistic family.2 In this sense, it was related to other Takic languages in the Los Angeles County region, such as Gabrielino/Fernandeño (Tongva) of the Los Angeles Basin proper, and Kitanemuk of the Antelope Valley. The Tataviam are thought to have inhabited the upper Santa Clara River drainage from about Piru eastwards to just beyond the Vasquez Rocks/Agua Dulce area; southwards as far as Newhall and the crests of the San Gabriel and Santa Susana Mountains; and northwards to include the middle reaches of Piru Creek, the Liebre Mountains, and the southwesternmost fringe of Antelope Valley.3 Their northern boundary most likely ran along the northern foothills of the Liebre Mountains (i.e., the edge of Antelope Valley), and then crossed to the southern slopes of the Sawmill Mountains and Sierra Pelona, extending 1 NEA, and King, Chester. -

VOIZA ARNOLD PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH AND SPEECH, RIO HONDO COLLEGE INTRODUCTION On November 19, 2008, a two-person team conducted a visit to Antelope Valley College to vali- date the Follow-Up Report submitted by the College on October 15, 2008. Both team members had been part of the team for the Antelope Valley College 2004 comprehensive visit, and the chair had also participated in a 2006 Progress Report visit. The team found the College to be very well prepared for the visit. The Follow-Up Report was clear, focused, and well written. College staff provided excellent assistance to the team chair in planning and organizing interviews, meetings, and access to both printed and electronic docu- ments to ensure the most productive and efficient use of limited time. Objectives: What are the objectives of the program? To what extent are these objectives being achieved? How satisfied are students with their preparation for employment? How satisfied are employers with the preparation they receive in this program? Does this program contribute to programs in other fields? What plans are in place for improving the program? Objectives of the Department of Plastics Manufacuring Technology is to educate compsites and thermoplastics manufacturing and inspection technicians, in order to satisfy local needs for a qualified mid-level workforce in the aerospace, advanced automotive, and medical devices industry. Our graduates of composites programs are highly sought after by local aerospace manufacturers, and most of them end up with the jobs at the Northrop-Grumman, SpaceX, Boeing, GKN, and other prime aerospace manufacturing entities in South California. Employers are very satisfied with the quality of our graduates, and our major bottleneck is increase in popularity of program/ increase in admission in order to satisfy the local needs. All of the part time instructors are current aerospace manufacturing engineers, and our IAB consists of representatives of major employees. The program contributes to ENGT, NPD and ET program through the inclusion of PMT100 class into the respective curriculums. 2. Market Data Need: How strong is the demand for graduates of the program? “X-15: WINGS INTO SPACE, Flying the First Reusable Spacecraft” by Michelle Evans University of Nebraska Press, Outward Odyssey series © 2012 In the Footsteps of the X-15 The primary place associated with the X-15 is Edwards AFB, California. However, there are many other locations where you can directly see the areas the rocket planes flew and landed, where men tracked them through the upper atmosphere and beyond, to find the surviving aircraft today, and where you may pay your respects to some of the men who made the world’s first reusable spacecraft possible. This appendix provides information on disposition of the various aircraft, engines, and mockups, as well as a tour itinerary for those interested in following the footsteps of the X-15. Beside making an excellent historic multi-day field trip for a group from scout - ing or as a school project, this tour is perfect for anyone with a bit of adventure and ex - ploration in their soul. The full tour can comfortably take a week or more, depending on how much time is spent at various locations and taking in the surrounding areas. Some sections, such as Palmdale/Lancaster to Cuddeback Dry Lake, then on to the Mike Adams memorial, may be accomplished in a single day for short excursions. 1. DISPOSITION OF ARTIFACTS Three X-15s were built by North American Aviation. The plant was at the southeast cor - ner of Los Angeles International Airport, which is now the location of the airport’s cargo terminal, near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Aviation Boulevard. -
