Fort Myers, Florida About the Facility May 10-13, 2012 Located in downtown Atlanta, on the campus of Georgia Tech, the Campus Recreation Center which houses the GT Aquatic Center, underwent a 45 million dollar renovation, expansion and new construction project re-opening in August, 2004. The Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix GT Aquatic Center has three pools—50 m x 25 m competition pool, 25 yd. diving well with full towers and 5-1m and 3-3m Charlotte, N.C. spring-boards, and a separate recreational pool with an indoor water slide. The facility also seats 1950 spectators in individual chair-back seats. The Aquatic Center was the site of the 1996 Olym-pic Aquatic events where 4 world records were broken, May 31-June 2, 2012 and the campus also served as the Olympic Village and Boxing venue during the Games. Most recently the 2006 Men’s Santa Clara International Grand Prix NCAA Swim-ming and Diving championships were held at the facility where records were broken every night. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Olympic gold medalists Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.), Dara Torres (Parkland, Fla.), Rebecca Soni (Plainsboro, N.J.) and Brendan Hansen (Havertown, Pa.) will compete at the 2011 AT&T Winter National Championships, December 1-3. The event which will take place at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga., will consist of the top American swimmers including 34 members of the 2011 FINA World Championships U.S. Team. Other top swimmers scheduled to compete include four-time Olympian Amanda Beard (Irvine, Calif.), Olympic gold medalists Ed Moses (Loma Linda, Calif.) and Peter Vanderkaay (Rochester, Mich.) as well as 2011 World Champion Missy Franklin (Centennial, Colo.). A total of 64 out of 108 U.S. National Team members will be in Atlanta, Ga. for the three-day meet. A strong fi eld of international competitors will also be in Atlanta, including Japanese Olympic gold medalist Kosuke Kitajima, France’s Fred Bousquet and Laure Manaudou, Great Britain’s Gemma Spofforth and South Africa’s Darian Townsend among others. Atlanta-area swimmers to compete in the meet include Olympic medalists Eric Shanteau (Lilburn, Ga.), Amanda Weir (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Kara Lynn Joyce (Athens, Ga.) along with 2008 Olympian Kathleen Hersey (Atlanta, Ga.) and National Team member Jack Brown (Atlanta, Ga.). Preliminaries will start at 9 a.m. ET Thursday through Saturday, with fi nals beginning at 6 p.m. ET. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online. Footage from the meet will air nationally on NBC on Sunday, December 4 from 2-3 p.m. ET. USA Swimming will also have a live webcast available of prelims and fi nals for all three days.
