Connor McFadyen Brisbane Lions 2019 STATE TALENT CARNIVAL AFL QUEENSLAND U14 BOYS 1 TALENT DEVELOPMENT The theme of the carnival is LET THEM PLAY. Coaches are encouraged to “play the Queensland way”, providing a greater chance of long term improvements through the following three principles: ENCOURAGE PLAYERS TO express THEMSELVES Take the game on: Bounce the football Take the ball at the highest point: Go for your marks Take the options: Switch kick & 45 kick ALLOW THE PLAYERS TO LEARN THROUGH A discovery ENVIRONMENT INTRINSIC LEARNING: • Hearing • Seeing • Doing Coach GAME SENSE WHAT Decision making HOW Movement knowledge ABILITY Skill GUIDING PRINCIPLES • Five Forwards to play inside their Attacking half at all times (two Inside Forward 50) Note: Defenders must also abide by the same principle though not necessarily man on man. (Note: The only exception to this is when the ball is in transition) • No “Tagging/Run With”, players whose sole purpose is to prevent an opposition player gaining possession are not permitted at any time. • No rolling zone or press is permitted at any time. Once the ball is in general play it’s important to encourage players to be responsible for their opponent, therefore creating more one on one football. • Midfielders and Ruckmen to be rested at either end of the ground (where possible) rather than being interchanged. • In general play and at stoppages, five Forwards and Defenders must re-set to their required starting position should they not be directly involved in the play. 2 3 FIXTURE Game 1 11:30am Sunshine Coast V Central Queensland OVAL 1 DAY 1 Game 2 1:00pm Wide Bay V Brisbane South West OVAL 1 Game 4 2:30pm Darling Downs V Northern Rivers OVAL 1 20 Friday Game 5 11:30am Brisbane North V Brisbane South East SEPTEMBER OVAL 3 Game 5 1:00pm North Queensland V Gold Coast North OVAL 3 Game 1 10.00am Brisbane North V North Queensland OVAL 1 Game 2 11:30am Gold Coast North V Brisbane South East OVAL 1 DAY 2 Game 4 4:00pm Northern Rivers V Brisbane South West OVAL 1 Saturday 21 Game 5 10:00am Wide Bay V Darling Downs OVAL 3 SEPTEMBER Game 5 1:00pm Moreton Bay V Sunshine Coast OVAL 3 Game 5 2:30pm Gold Coast South V Central Queensland OVAL 3 Game 1 9:00am Moreton Bay V Central Queensland OVAL 1 Game 2 10:30am North Queensland V Brisbane South East OVAL 1 DAY 4 Game 4 12:00pm Sunshine Coast V Gold Coast South OVAL 1 Monday 23 Game 5 9:00am Brisbane North V Gold Coast North OVAL 3 SEPTEMBER Game 5 10:30am Wide Bay V Northern Rivers OVAL 3 Game 5 12:00pm Darling Downs V Brisbane South West OVAL 3 DAY 5 Game 1 9:30am Gold Coast South V Moreton Bay OVAL 1 Tuesday 24 SEPTEMBER U14 BOYS Map-marker-altNETBALL BUILDING Friday 10:00am Sunshine Coast, Brisbane North, Brisbane South East, Brisbane South West Parent Saturday 11:30am Wide Bay, Darling Downs, Moreton Bay INFORMATION Monday 9:00am North Queensland, Northern Rivers SESSION Monday 10:30am Gold Coast South, Gold Coast North, Central Queensland 3 WELCOME TO THE 2019 STATE ACADEMY CHAMPIONSHIPS Welcome to the 2019 State Championships being A special vote of thanks to the coaches and held at Fishermans Road, Maroochydore, from support staff of all the competing teams, including Friday September 20 to Tuesday September 24.
