ACTIONS 1. Welcome and Apologies The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting and apologies were noted. 2. Action Note The minutes from the meeting held on 18 November 2019 were read and approved. Proposed: Mr I Clifford. Seconded: Miss S Smith 3. Matters Arising from Previous Minutes • Jock’s Burn – NAC previously looked into this in 2011. The repairs are the responsibility of the adjoining property owners but as there are multiple private owners, it may be difficult to secure permission and funding. The council are able to support the repairs with advice but not to finance it. 4. Police Report Sgt Joe Murdoch has been promoted to a new post in . The Community Council expressed thanks for Sgt Murdoch’s efforts in his 4 years in post. Sgt Dennis Marshall will be taking on Sgt Murdoch’s previous role in the but has not started yet. Two police constables announced the police report. They advised that in the period 20th December to 20th January, there had been 187 calls to the police and 35 crime reports had been raised. There were 210 calls last month and 160 in the same period last year. Of the four North policing priorities:

Drug Dealing and Misuse 2 call Violence and Anti-Social Behaviour 34 calls Dishonesty and Theft 7calls Road Safety / Road Crime 22 calls

During this period, there were 67 priority 1 and 2 calls. There were 9 missing person calls and 6 calls with concerns for persons. Of the 35 crime reports, there were 6 thefts with 2 detected, 5 vandalisms with 0 detected, 5 assaults with 3 detected and 5 breach of the peace with 4 detected.

Update on Ladysmith parking issue – police are monitoring the situation and plan to visit the business to highlight concerns.

There are plans to improve the CCTV cameras in Dalry with additional camera improvements in and Kilbirnie. These will be digital cameras on a network so that it will be easier to track large groups of youths. Since October, over 90 young people have been identified through existing CCTV images and liaising with school campus police. Unfortunately, there are very few calls from public to advise police of issues. 5. Guest Speaker – Simon McGrory, Garnock Connections Funded by £2m of Heritage Lottery money and other grants, they are working along the from RSPB , through the Garnock Valley to the coast between Irvine and . There have been several projects ranging from wildlife habitat improvements to cultural heritage work. Part of their work has culminated in an app being developed by Ice Cream Architects called “Places That We Know”. This is a map with details of points of interest and has suggested routes. They are also looking to create a resource to encourage volunteering. Some options include wildlife recording, path stewardship, oral history recording or working at archaeological dig sites. Training will be provided. Funding is in place until 2022 with a 5 year maintenance phase to maintain apps and websites once the project expires. 6. AOCB • Christmas lights – KTCMI couldn’t put up banners without permission. One problem is that there are no suitable locations identified for banner siting. • Change in Health Centre opening times on Monday from late evening to early morning. • There is a new café opened by a Turkish couple. Some people at the meeting had already been to the café and gave it positive reviews. • Peter was introduced as the new secretary at Dalry Community Council and he was thanked for attending tonight’s meeting.
