Winthrop Basketball ver the past 15 years the Winthrop men’s basketball program has been Osynonymous with winning championships and claiming victories over some of the nation’s elite schools. Over that period, the Eagles have nine Big South Conference championships, captured the Marquette Pepsi Blue and Gold Classic, the oldest continuing tournament in the country, along with nine NCAA tournament appearances, highlighted by the 2007 first-round victory over Notre Dame.
