Honorary Gifts Marge Demauro, In Honor of Jimmy Hindley Mary Murray, In Honor of Jules Murray Milt Sleeter, In Honor of Carly Yarbrough Joel Herman, In Honor of Carly Yarbrough Dear Pen Ryn Pen Families, Ryn Family, During the 2012-2013 school year, the Pen Ryn PTO celebrated another successful year of sponsoring events that served to raise funds needed to enhance our children’s educational experience and continue to foster a sense of school-wide community. Monies raised by the Pen Ryn PTO fund school assemblies, purchase equipment, improve the facilities at the school and so much more. Moreover, the PTO brings us all together to strengthen the spirit of The Pen Ryn School. Here’s a glimpse of what we accomplished as a group this past school year: September: The Ice Cream Social brought everyone together to enjoy some cool treats and celebrate the beginning of another school year. The Magazine Drive was one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Fueled by the support of the entire Pen Ryn community, we raised more than $10,000. October: We enjoyed a Moonlight Bowling Party at the Family Bowling Night held at Levittown Lanes. November: We hosted Grandparents/Special Person’s Day. December: The Scholastic Book Fair posted record sales thanks to the support of the students and their families and added more than 100 books to our classroom and school libraries. The Annual Craft Show celebrated its 24th successful year. We kicked-off the holiday season and closed out 2012 with the Holiday Shoppe, a favorite amongst students. January: The Pancake Breakfast brought families together to enjoy Sunday breakfast at the Newtown Applebee’s and we hosted the Mother/Son Challenge. February: Another successful Scholastic Book Fair was held following the Winter Break. May: The Mother’s Day Flower Sale, PTO Picnic and providing Blue and Gold Day snacks gave us an opportunity to celebrate the Moms and our students. We also built summer reading lists with the Buy One, Get One event at the Scholastic Book Fair. June: We closed the PTO calendar with the Teacher Luncheon; our chance to thank the Faculty and Staff for providing an environment that nurtures, encourages and empowers our children every day. In addition, there were ongoing activities throughout the year that must be recognized such as Pizza Friday, the Scrip Program, and the Box Tops for Education program. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the Pen Ryn families and friends that donated their time, talents and resources to each and every one of these events. Simply put, without their dedication, none of this would have happened. A special thank you is extended to the members of the PTO that have left us. We appreciate all that they did over the years to contribute to our success –we wish them all the best! The new school year has just begun and with this beginning we look forward to another successful year of working together. Gratefully, Jodi Apice, PTO President, 2013-14
