BIG DAY AHEAD FOR EMIRATES ATP RACE TO LONDON CONTENDERS

 DAY 4 PREVIEW: Thursday’s schedule at the Erste Bank Open features second-round singles and quarter-final doubles matches as the Emirates ATP Race to London heats up. No. 1 seed David Ferrer has a 945-point lead for the eighth and final spot at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, but he was forced to rally from a set down in the first round against countryman Albert Ramos- Viñolas. Another of Ferrer’s fellow Spaniards, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, challenges him in Round 2. The player closest to Ferrer in the race is No. 4 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and he too had to play a three-setter in the first round. Tsonga looks to keep pace with Ferrer, or perhaps gain ground on him, with a win over Lukas Rosol on Thursday. An important match in the Emirates ATP Doubles Race to London is first up on Centre Court as No. 2 seeds and meet of Austria and of Brazil. Murray and Peers have already qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, while Peya and Soares are ninth in the race. The No. 8 team of and fell in the first round on Wednesday, which means that Peya and Soares can inch within 215 points of them by winning the Vienna title.

 EMIRATES ATP RACE TO LONDON UPDATE: With 18 days remaining in the Emirates ATP Race to London, two spots are up for grabs at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals Nov. 15-22. The Top 8 players in the race on Nov. 9 will compete at the year-end championships. Six players have qualified so far: Novak Djokovic, , Roger Federer, , Rafael Nadal and Tomas Berdych. As of Thursday, 945 race points separate No. 8 David Ferrer and No. 9 Jo- Wilfried Tsonga, who could each gain 500 points by winning the Vienna title.
