Nunga Week

2020 Mayor's Foreword

Nunga week is an opportunity to support the cultural, spiritual, emotional physical and economic wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people in the region. The City of PAE is situated on Country and acknowledges the Kaurna people’s as the traditional owners. The Council continues to recognise Aboriginal people as the first Australians, with a unique culture and spiritual relationship to the land and sea that they have strived to retain through the period of non-indigenous settlement. We recognise and celebrate Aboriginal culture across the City of PAE; showcasing the history, achievement and experience of the richness and diversity of the Aboriginal culture. We aim to increase Aboriginal skill, knowledge and capability by encouraging community participation and opportunity that increases and improves inclusion in the City of PAE Community. We strive for safe and resilient communities, including the provision of infrastructure and access to services. By creating opportunities to involve community, include their voices, we hope to increase well- being and building strong, cohesive, vibrant, participatory community members.
