Book Clubs In an attempt to expand online services to help our computer-capable patrons, our library, along with DearReader.com, delivers books electronically. Patrons can visit www.camdencountylibrary.org, where they can find information about the online book clubs. are Here! By entering your email address, you can join one or more book clubs, which include fiction, nonfiction, mystery, business, science fiction, and teen. The clubs are free, and you don’t need a Camden County Library System card to sign up. Every weekday for one week, the Library e-mails readers a portion of a book which takes about five minutes to read. By the end of the work week, readers are able to read roughly the first two chapters of the book. If they like it, they can check it out of the Library. The next week, a new book is featured and the process starts all over again. In conjunction with the South Jersey Library Cooperative, the Library also offers a free service called NextReads. Subscribers select their interests from a list of more than 20 categories. They receive monthly e-mail newsletters that give book suggestions in those genres. With a Camden County Library card, you can then use the library’s website to search for a book’s availability and place holds on books you may be interested in reading. Knit-Out and Crochet Too! On Saturday, October 20th the South County YarnBalls hosted its first ever Knit-Out and Crochet Too event. Free knitting and crochet lessons were offered to the public by knowledgeable YarnBall members. Everyone who signed in received tickets for free door prizes that were given away every half hour. In the Warm Up America Café knitters and crocheters enjoyed a wonderful spread of refreshments. Patrons watched our local spinners, Stacy Sundance and Inger Bullock, turn sheep’s wool and alpaca into yarn. Afterward people were encouraged to continue their newly acquired skills by taking home a free set of knitting needles, a crochet hook and yarn. The Library wants to offer collections, programs, and services that fit your needs.
