By Josephine Matyas In Tucson, the romance of the rough and tumble Wild West intersects with rich Native American culture and the bright lights of a world-class cosmopolitan city. Today, the intermingling of these cultures – Native American, Mexican and Spanish, independent-minded settlers – is felt and seen in all parts of Tucson life, from gastronomy to a deep appreciation for the outdoors to the preservation of history and culture. More than a decade ago, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute or ICT set up the Certificate of Sustainable Tourism or CST.
