Founded in 1910, Camp Fire was the first nonsectarian, interracial organization for girls in the , which expanded to all youth in 1975.

Today, Camp Fire Minnesota is a strong, growing organization with a mission to provide all youth with meaningful ways to experience and grow in nature. A recent capital campaign successfully raised over $6 million to further this mission.

Additionally, Camp Fire is supported by The Minnesota Camp Fire Foundation which was established in 1996 to ensure a strong future for Camp Fire Minnesota. Lessons may include Animal Adaptations, Ecosystem Exploration, Math-Venture Race, Pond/Wetland study, and much more. Field trips may also include or be fully dedicated to team-building activities (for youth and adults). • In-Class programs bring Camp Fire's environmental educators into the classrooms to lead students in hands-on activities that can stand alone or build on a field trip experience at Tanadoona. • Virtual classroom visits live from Tanadoona launched in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Camp Fire Minnesota has a rich history and an exciting future. The organization is searching for a new President and CEO with a strong vision for Camp Fire's future and a deep commitment to nature equity, youth development and land-based learning. This position is open due to the transition of Marnie Wells who has successfully led Camp Fire Minnesota for almost 13 years. The President and CEO is responsible for bringing the mission to life. This role oversees the administration, programs, fundraising and the strategic plan of the organization. The CEO reports to and works in partnership with the Camp Fire Minnesota Board of Directors as well as the Minnesota Camp Fire Foundation and its Trustees. The President and CEO will work closely with numerous stakeholders such as staff, board, trustees, donors, volunteers, community leaders, partners, elected officials and more. Essential Responsibilities Strategic and Organizational Leadership: Works with the board and staff to fulfill the organization's mission. • Provide visionary leadership, guiding the organization’s mission and strategic plan. • Work in partnership with the leadership team to develop annual operational objectives and metrics. • Foster a collaborative, supportive organizational culture, which motivates and values staff and encourages and develops their skills. • Maintain active and productive relationships with a diverse, strategic board, ensuring effective board governance and engagement. • Recruit and on-board new board members, attracting a breadth of strong governance connections that foster growth and support of Camp Fire Minnesota.

Fundraising and External Relations: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health and growth of the organization and the Minnesota Camp Fire Foundation. • In partnership with the development team, board of directors and trustees, cultivate financial support for the organization, including nurturing and extending relationships with major donors, foundations and corporate supporters. Develop new revenue sources necessary to support the mission. • Partner with VP of Organizational Advancement on fundraising strategy, including any future endowment and capital campaigns. • Represent the organization and serve as chief spokesperson publicly at events, conferences, and partnership meetings. • Enhance the organization’s image by being active and visible in the community.

Programs and Direct Services: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through its programs and services. • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure quality, meaningful programs that deliver on the organization’s mission and strategic initiatives. • Oversee the hiring, coaching, retaining, developing and assessing a competent, qualified staff. • Ensure effective administration of operations. 7 PROF N IL O E I

Financial Oversight: Assume responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the organization. • In collaboration with CFO and leadership team, develop an annual budget that aligns with strategic initiatives and ensure monthly financial statements accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization. • Manage operations within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

Management Responsibilities The President and Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board of Directors as well as the Minnesota Camp Fire Foundation Board of Trustees. The President and CEO oversees a committed staff of full-time, part-time and volunteers. Roles reporting directly to the President and CEO are Vice President of Organizational Advancement, Vice President of Operations, and Chief Financial Officer. A total of 18 dedicated full-time and 2 part-time staff work at Camp Fire Minnesota, supported by 60 seasonal (summer camp) staff and over 200 outstanding volunteers each year.

Required Qualifications All candidates must have outstanding executive management skills, a proven fundraising record, and a passion for learning. Camp Fire Minnesota is seeking a leader with a deep enthusiasm for the mission. The President and CEO will have the ability to provide change leadership, while working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, always with integrity and professionalism.

Desired Background, Experience and Qualifications • Strategic leadership experience. Ten or more years senior management experience at a nonprofit, youth-serving or environmental organization. • Bachelor's Degree or comparable educational background. • Experience setting strategy for an organization, and skill in working with a Board of Directors. • Demonstrated experience as a sophisticated leader of of a multi-functional staff. • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results. • Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community. Experience with a capital campaign preferred. • Previous success in establishing relationships and partnerships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders; community-based organizations; Black, Indigenous, People of Color communities; and related agencies and volunteers. • Background managing complex programs, services and/or physical properties.

Compensation and Benefits The compensation range includes a target annual base pay of $140,000-$165,000 and participation in the comprehensive benefits plan which includes generous healthcare contribution and PTO, 401(k) with safe harbor 3% contribution, and sabbatical benefit.
