Senior women are incapable of reproduction, mastering their bodies, or arousing sexual desire in themselves or others. The senior actresses’ I explore in the case studies below insert their performances of self and their everyday lives into the large and complicated discourse of sex, producing a counter-narrative to sexually inactive senior women. Their performances actively embody their sexuality outside the frame of a character. This thesis examines how senior actresses’ performances of sexuality extend a discourse of sexuality imposed on older woman by mass media. These women are the public face of senior women’s sexual agency. -

‘A CHRISTMAS FOR THE BOOKS’ Cast Bios CHELSEA KANE (Joanna Moret) – Chelsea Kane has been acting professionally since the age of nine when she landed the role of Young Kim in the national Broadway tour of Showboat. Kane most recently starred as Riley on Freeform’s long-running hit show, “Baby Daddy,” which won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Comedy in 2017. Kane also starred in the original TV movies “Lovestruck” and “#Popfan,” and as Meredith in the theatrical release of Bratz. She enjoyed a recurring role on the final season of The CW’s “One Tree Hill” and was a fan favorite on season 12 of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” finishing as one of the three finalists. Kane was a series lead on Disney’s “Jonas” and the voice of Bea Goldfishberg in their animated series, “Fish Hooks.” In addition to voicing roles in Adult Swim's “Hot Streets” and “Rick and Morty,” Kane loves bringing life to Pow in the new Netflix series “Trolls.” ### DREW SEELEY (Ted Dinrise) – Drew Seeley grew up in Toronto where he first fell in love with performing. At age 11, he was cast in Hal Prince’s revival of Showboat and stayed with the production for a year. Two years later, he got his first guitar, began writing songs, and hasn’t looked back since. In 2005, Seeley started working with producer Ray Cham and together they wrote “Getcha Head in the Game” for Disney’s quadruple platinum “High School Musical” soundtrack. This garnered them an Emmy nomination in the Best Original Song and Lyrics category. -

CHELSEA KANE Biography Chelsea Kane (formerly Chelsea Staub) is a versatile young actress and musician. Chelsea is currently competing on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. She also stars in the web series The Homes on Lockerz.com. The Homes is a first-of-its kind indie rock musical, featuring twelve original music videos. In addition, she is the voice of Bea in Disney Channel’s animated comedy series “Fish Hooks”. Eye-catching and funny, “Fish Hooks” is the imaginative story of three tween fish navigating high school. Chelsea recently starred as Stella Malone, the longtime friend and style guru to the Lucas brothers in the Disney Channel comedy series "JONAS." The Phoenix, Arizona native has been acting professionally since the age of nine. She landed her first role as Young Kim in the national Broadway tour of "Showboat" and went on to star in the productions "Peter Pan," "The Wiz," "Cinderella," "Oliver," "Annie," "Titanic," "The Sound of Music," "Schoolhouse Rock," "A Christmas Carol" and "The Secret Garden," among others.
