UNICEF and (OCHA, HRP 2018) partners also delivered Multi-Sector Emergency Packages (MSEP) to 8,782 individuals in need in retaken areas, including 4,782 children, in Ka’im district, 2.31 million internally displaced people western Anbar, ensuring provision of essential items. (IDP) • UNICEF ensured continued water trucking to 14 neighbourhoods in West 3.51 million people returned to newly- Mosul, ensuring safe water for 54,150 individuals (115,213 children). In accessible areas coordination with the Directorate of Water (DoW) Ninewa and other (IOM, Displacement Tracking Matrix, 28 February 2018) partners, UNICEF continued to fix the water network, intending to eventually eliminate water trucking. Target population in 2018 • Since the start of 2018, UNICEF partners provided psychosocial services Rapid Response: 1,030,000 IDPs (PSS) to 19,262 newly-registered IDP children (9,299 girls), specialized child WASH: 1.3 million people protection services reached 2,424 IDP children (1,170 girls). Education: 450,000 children • In February, the UN launched a two-year Recovery and Resilience Health: 1.2 million children (polio) Programme (RRP) at the International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq. Child Protection: 186,300 children and The RRP complements the 2018 Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP), and caregivers builds on existing efforts to ensure tangible improvements at the start of the reconstruction process.

    After the Last Frontiers: Palestine Between Memory and the Anticolonial Art of Resistance by Huda Salha A thesis exhibition presented to OCAD University In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Fine Arts In Interdisciplinary Master’s in Art, Media and Design Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 2020 I Abstract After the Last Frontiers, my thesis exhibition, aims to raise questions about forms of oppression and violence practiced by the oppressive colonial powers in Palestine and, by extension, the world. The thesis explores the possibilities of artists’ contributions to social and political change by shedding light on my motives, narratives, and art practice, and by comparing my artworks to those by artists who have tackled similar issues. The art produced for this thesis exhibition is intended to act as an anticolonial form of resistance and activism. The exhibition consists of installations of objects that represent sites of memory, reviving the collective memory of people and land. In my case, I wish to commemorate the places that were stolen, the over 750,000 displaced Palestinians and their descendants, amounting to millions, the thousands of Palestinians killed since 1948, the hundreds of thousands of acres of olive trees uprooted, and the over 500 Palestinian villages and towns obliterated. Based on relevant historical and archival artifacts, this practice-based thesis underscores the significance of documentation and archival material in memory tracing/maintaining, and its relevance to the Palestinian case, and, in turn, the Israeli hegemonic narrative in the West. It discusses the question to what extent these expressions are used by the various actors in the show, in particular its four jury members and three presenters, and it tries to explain why they use them and to what purpose. The analysis is set against the background of the question what the relationship is between ‘language’ (in this case, the various varieties of Arabic) and ‘religion’ (in this case, Christianity and Islam). The analysis yielded nearly 40 Arabic expressions referring to God (Allah or Rabb (Lord)) that together showed up more than 600 times in the 10 episodes of the show that were the object of analysis. The conclusion is that the expressions indeed have ‘religious’ roots but that they have at the same time become part and parcel of not necessarily religiously intended speaking styles expressing all kind of feelings, such as astonishment, surprise, disappointment, etc. This conclusion goes well with observations made in earlier research on the questions at stake.
